Jones - Much better this week.
Well, as most know, I was pretty critical of CJ's game last week. His highest disposal count, but one of his worst games of the year.
This week he was much better. The chase and harass was still there, he got the ball in good position rather than being under pressure, and most importantly he tapped the ball to advantage in tight situations rather than grabbing the pill and either being tackled to a ball-up situation, or having to dispose of the ball under pressure.
He also got the second half job on Stanton, after Birss kept him very quiet in the first half. He wasn't as good at tagging as Birss, but it was a good test of where he is at as far as tagging goes. Could have a job to do on Wojcinski this week.
No video compilation this week, sorry.

I disagree... Thought Jones was pretty poor, and probably our worst performer... Again, not doubting his endvevour, but his lack of weapons hurts us...
He is a good tackler/harrasser, but he just doesnt have anything by hand or foot that hurts the opposition, and play is often stagnated when he is in a chain of passes...
He is lucky imo that Ball is still out this week, otherwise I think he should have been dropped for X... Now with Demp out and Ball not fit, only 1 change will be the go, hopefully for X..
Skills in finals will be even more critical, and I hope he can pull a few big ones out and use what he does well to the full extent... He'll need double figure tackles imo....

If this forum had a soundtrack that would win hands down. I often listen to it while reading. Puts some of the posts in context.Otiman wrote:That music makes anything hilarious, those who say otherwise have no sense of humourbigcarl wrote:with the benny hill musicOtiman wrote:No video compilation this week, sorry.

I thought he was better last week, actually. Last week he at least got a fair bit of the footy and was in the play, whereas on Sunday the only time Jones was really noticeable was when he missed his three shots at goal. I know he was given a tagging role, but Stanton was still one of Essendon's best (not a huge achievement) and Jones hardly got a touch.

Had a tagging role in the second half which he has not had before (as far as i know). It's clear he's not a tagger (yet), but his "yes, boss" attitude has to be applauded.mad saint guy wrote:I thought he was better last week, actually. 1%'ers and work around the packs was much better.
Missing 3 goals is never good, but it shows that he gets in the position to kick them.

This gets tiresome.mad saint guy wrote:<snip>

Two shots he missed were snaps, one set shot, and he was pissed with himself, he takes his game seriously. Check out his beautiful tap to Eddy to set up his goal.
How about putting a clip together of Kosi' woesome misses, and you can throw in Roo and NDS while you are at it...

Noticeable that msg always backs up his comments on players with specific examples to make his argument. Many of those who disagree with his view on CJ do not.Teflon wrote:mate anything you have to say on Jones doesnt count your clearly tainted.mad saint guy wrote:I thought he was better last week, actually. For mine CJ does hassle and tackle extremely well - mighty important against the Cats as Collingwood showed earlier in the season. however it is a fact that he is a shocking kick. Quality disposal is important against EVERY team. On the other hand, I like the way he plays much of his offensive game now as a runner who handballs more often to a teammate rather than leaving himslef in a position were he needs to dispose with a pinpoint pass.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
