R. Eddy - Round 22 rising star??

Has the rising star been announced yet?

If not what about Eddy:

- 19 touches
- 5 TACKLES
- 1 Goal and I think 1 assist if memory serves me well.

Would be well deserved for a rookie to come in and not be dropped from a team that has won 8 out of 10 games in the run home.

yep he was great yesturday unfortunately it was PORT Adelaide defender Alipate Carlile.

Probably was the better performer this round, but Carlile consistently better this season. Same deal as when Armitage lost out earlier this season. Definitely some great signs from Eddy though, especially for a (former) rookie.

Armo also played 11 games so no longer eligible in '09.

Geary, Howard, Steven, Allen, Connors - All eligible next year.

Not much has been said about this kid even on this forum but I love the way he's developing.

Plenty of courage and tries his guts out IMO looking like he's got a future.

Also sometimes looks a bit like Goddard out there too which can't be a bad thing.

He's got the Frankie Peckett quality to me.
Saw him by the way , in South Yarra a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, for mine Eddy has all the hallmarks of a good midfield footsoldier. Good athlete, works hard, tackles hard.

Should be a part of the St Kilda list for a long time to come (assuming he keeps improving).

Geary is still clearly in the "shows potential" stage of his career. Performs at fantastically at VFL level but seems to struggle (or is given different roles) at AFL level.

The one thing that is apparant with Ross Lyon's St. Kilda is that guys with great work ethic and fitness are preferred to flashy players who do a few good things a game.

I haven't seen much of the kid at all, but:

2007: 2 senior games, 8 reserves games, 11 thirds games, 1 emergency spot
2008: 0 senior games, 17 reserves games, 1 thirds game, 0 emergency spots

From these figures, I guess I have to concede that he's improving slowly, but at this rate he won't be getting a regular game in the senior side until about 2011!

But happy to hope. I suppose he'll still only be 21 at the start of next season, so still time.

Eddy is a hard-worker and is not very skilled.....a 'double grab' player...his fitness and effort give him value......less like Peckett...and more like a A.Thompson

He was surely to be a handy pick up, in the low end of the rookie draft and was a dual AA in the U18's.....IMO he was worth a late second round pick and makes up for the speculative pick we used on Howard......recruiters sometimes look to deep into a young player and ignore the obvious.....like 'can he play'.....in Eddy's case 'yes he can'
