SEAN DEMPSTER will play no part in St Kilda's finals campaign after coach Ross Lyon confirmed the former Swan had ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament early in Sunday's big win over Essendon.

In Ross Get lost!

I am excited to stay at St Kilda and this is a great result for the Club and all our fans. I’m proud to be part of the Saints and am pleased to be playing football with the Clubâ€

Poor bugga
He had just cemented his spot and was playing some good footy.
We should be able to cover for him - I hope he can recover well :(

Good luck Sean and well done for the year you have contributed to the saints in make it this far

Thought it looked like a pcl. My mistake. But good news for him. Success rate after the knife is excellent (given a couple of years). Pcl not so good.

The radio had me believing he had a dislocated knee cap.....

Bad news that it's an ACL,still they do come back and be as good as they were, but for some unlucky ones, they snap it again....

Hope he is as fortunate as Harvey,Hayes and Goddard.......

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Any chance he might have the procedure Nick Malceski did? If he has the standard procedure he probably misses most, if not all, of 2009.

Very sad news for him. And for the team. Not just the loss of a player who has come along nicely, slotted into the 22, and played good footy, but for his valuable finals experience too.

Best wishes to him in recovery.

Huge shame. He grew as a player and I felt became an integral member of our back half.

Well, when X and Ball come back in, now there's only one spot to replace.

The sad part is he was winning supporters over (me being one) and will be missed down back at ground level.

Probably means a Raph, Gwilt or BJ may need to go back which is BAD NEWS.

Would L Fisher be a chance now?

Saw him leave the field....looked like bad news then, too bad that's how it's turned out :( I hope he has a speedy recovery and we see some great things out of him in 09.

Shocking news. Our back six have been very solid all year and to disrupt that would be (almost) the worst thing that could happen.

Very interesting to see what happens at the selection table on Thursday / Friday.

He's really cemented his place in our best 22 in the second half of the year, I hope he comes back bigger and better.

If you'd told me 12 months ago how sorry I'd be to hear that, I wouldn't have believed you.

Love the way he shuts down small forwards, runs off them and kicks.

While we didn't need him today, we will in the weeks to come.

Bugga...

Dempster had become a real rock down back.

Luckilly Raph has chosen right now to run into good form. However I would have preferred both in our 22.
