It all seems to be going pear shaped and being run in a Keystone Cops fashion.

That's my take.

Casey is dead and buried. You need to get over it and support wherever we end up.

Casey may be dead and buried in your mind (I suppose you were one who continued to without question promote the company line and always support the current position of the Board…..Moorabbin…..Frankston Park……..Belvedere Park……what will you support next?

I will support the club wherever we end up. But how can I support a location which doesn’t exist yet? So, until we are in a new location, the debate is fair game.

In reality, I think that the best available outcome is to redevelop at Moorabbin (if Casey Fields isn’t available). But I’m just assuming that Casey Fields is no longer available.

Imagine if it was still available. Our redevelopment prospects might rise from the ashes like a phoenix.

Imagine if it was still available, and we didn't even investigate the possibility. But that would be a just another misjudgement in this whole sorry saga.

Just remember, the MFC arrangement is only temporary until they get their new facilities built.

Not according to the Council - it's a 30 year arrangement:

http://www.casey.vic.gov.au/mediareleas ... Item=13067

It seems that the arrangement is a fulltime relocation until MFC's new facilities are available, and then a summer training base and some in-season training as well. But one of the key parts of the Council's media release is about the community partnership that will be delivered by MFC to the Casey community - something that will inevitably deliver a major boost in memberships and something that we could have done.

Training sessions bring in no money, except maybe some merchandise sales.

The financial strife will come from the expenditure of massive amounts on a nothing training facility and the club not having any real asset to show for it.

Nothing training facility?????? WTF would be a marked improvement on what we already have.

And we are not spending a lot of our own money on it. Agree thou I wish there was property being handed over as part of the deal.

Yes, of course it would be, but with all that money being spent it is incumbent on the Club to ensure that it is spent in the best location - and Belvedere Park is not only not the best location; it is so far from being anywhere near an acceptable location that it will be the legacy of a process that went horribly wrong if it ever happens there.

ausfatcat wrote:And we are not spending a lot of our own money on it. Agree thou I wish there was property being handed over as part of the deal.
No, we're not spending a lot of our own money on it.

We're only spending $1.25 million of $10.25 million.

Other parties (State Government, AFL and Frankston Council) are committed to $9 million.

It goes to Council tonight (Monday 1 September) with the Club hoping that the Council will increase its offer from $3 million to $3.8 million.

This increase is actually $1.8 million more in cash (because previously the Council offered $2 million in cash and a $1 million property). It will be a big ask for a cash-strapped Council with its own cost pressures over its proposed pool development, a very low rate base and candidates in an imminent election who will make a meal out of giving $3.8 million to an AFL club to build facilities in a part of Frankston virtually inaccessible to most other residents (who will therefore struggle to enjoy the "community benefits" promised).

The win was fantastic, but the rest of the world hasn't stopped like us to savour it.

Not just another update - tonight the Council considers the matter!!

The vote will determine whether:

* we are saved from ourselves because the Council votes not to put in the extra money
* we become committed to a dingy backwater at Belvedere Park if the Council votes to put the money in

However, more likely than either - the Council doesn't make a decision tonight.

Who cares. It will be sorted out and the only thing certain is we are not at Casey. If Belverdere Park is out of the way what is Casey?

The board should be fair dinkum kicked out on their arses, if they persist with this Belvedere Park nonsense, FAIR DINKUM

I only hope the council has enough sense to squash this white elephant before it takes breath, for it would seem our board doesn't have any perspicacity or perspicuity FAIR DINKUM

This dissapoints me, no end, I really believed in them, but they are selling this club short.

A training facility in Belvedere Park has about as much appeal as Amanda Vanstone in a thong.

This an outrage, a fair dinkum disgrace, the whole board should be drug tested and if the results come up clean, then somebody get them on the gear, because fair dinkum they need some kind of mind altering substances, if they are serious about this fiasco, being a good thing.

St.Kilda in St.Kilda, it would happen if anyone had any vision at all

or

Sandringham at the Trevor Barker Oval

or

get the state government to intervene, exactly as they did with the Bulldogs, a precedent has been set, and fair dinkum, STAY at Moorabbin

What a fair dinkum crock

If this goes ahead it will haunt our club for years to come and will be a legacy of shame for the current administration.

Just take a drive to the site, and you will see what backwater means.

You will be driving along residential streets, saying to yourself "Where the hell am I?"

Not everyting to do with "location, location, location" is based on distance to the CBD.

Sure Belvedere Park is closer to Melbourne, and may be closer to the freeway.

However, Frankston Park's trumpeted advantages were that it was close to the hustle and bustle of the Frankston activity centre (including cafes), it was close to the beach, it was close to the future aquatic complex, it was close to the station.

Frankston Park was a high profile site in close proximity to a lot of the Frankston "action".

Belvedere Park, on the other hand, is a backwater.

Just take a drive to the site if you don't believe me.

Couldnt be bothered as I dont think I will be picked up in the draft next year so doesnt matter where it is to me. So the players will get in their cars and drive 10 minutes to get their lunch and go to the beach. Who cares. They would have to drive at Casey as well. The main attraction though is we now play our games at Sandy which is better for probably 60% to 70% of Saints supporters. I still dont understand why it matters to us where they train as half the sessions are closed and when open about 100 people go so what is the difference apart from being much closer to where the players live at the moment.

Exactly my point...

As I have stated earlier, I would rather the Saints have a training facility that does not involve sharing with any other club...

The constant rants from b4e about St Kilda moving to our spiritual home in St Kilda is laughable....we would have trouble training there because of the cricket commitments.

The Sandringham idea is also laughable little room and far too expensive for development.

Any ground that we don't have to share with another club wins it for me...

While I also reckon Casey was a complete crock also, I totally agree with you about Belvedere park.

The silence and apathy on here towards this blatant stupidity by the new board of the St.Kilda football club is to be expected, this site is full of laterally challenged numbnuts, so nothing new here, but for those given control of the ship, there is no excuse fro driving this club to a veritable iceberg.

Frankston Park falls over and they go hunting for any block of land, anywhere in the near vicinity, what a fair dinkum bunch of visionless halfwits, the Frankston thing fell over for a very good reason, this club is not meant to be down there for starters.

They should be thrown out for dereliction of duty and sent packing, FAIR DINKUM.

It's a bit like your wife saying "not tonight darling, got a headache, not in the mood" and replying with , "no worries luv, but you don't mind if my leper mate Wozza has a crack".

These tosspots running the club should be tossed out immediately, before it's too late, and this club is left with a red herring, a white elephant and a very black day in our history!

I wasn't talking about the Junction Oval, there are three football grounds within a 100 metres of Fitzroy street for starters.

AND if we did build the training facility there we could also train at the Junction in winter and one of the adjacent ovals in summer.

A bit too laterally challenged for the nuffies on here and the board of the St.Kilda football club it would seem.

I'll start talks with the St.kilda Council and get the ball rolling, myself.

This is where our club truly belongs, we are not called St.kilda for nothing!

There is about 500 metres of bushland behind the wing at the Trevor Barker Oval, just knock down a few trees and there 's your room.

How is this more expensive than any other option, please provide details?

Seeing as I can't be farked trolling through 20 odd pages of tripe to locate the exact facts, can someone please confirm that the original deal, at Frankston (where the grandstand burned down), announced with much fanfare and pretty architect's drawings has in fact officially fallen over?

Barks, I reckon there's a few problems with teh Junction Oval vicinity.

FIrstly the cricket requirements of Junction Oval itself means it is unavailable over summer.
As for the alternate grounds in the Albert Park area, most have cricket clubs already on them and even more importantly, they are all unavaialbale for about 2 months from early Feb to early April because of the Grand Prix (set-up and removal of infastructure involved with teh event). There is another problem that gets very little media exposure. The state of teh playing surface after the Grand Prix is a disaster. I'm involved with a club whose home ground is in Albert park and some years we never get on to the ground because of the damage to teh playing surface from the temporary seating, marquees etc.

Seconsly, I don't reckon the State Government would tip any money in as there are community facilities all over that area already. (MSAC etc)

I still manitain the ground that might be suitable is Elsternwick Park.
