Well St Byron, exactly how many AFL games have you played?
Seeing you so very obviously know it all the answer should be of interest.
I think from memory Koschitzke has kicked 27 goals for the season and is third on our goalkicking list behind Riewoldt and Milne.
The difference between these 3 players is that Riewoldt IS St Kilda's premier go to forward, Milne is a "small forward" where his defence has been AVERAGING 2 goals a game (although his improved contribution over recent weeks is noted) and Koschitzke is being played as a ruckman (which is the subject of this thread).
So how many other ruckmen in the competition have 27 goals against their names in season 2008?
Does King?
Does M. Gardiner?
Does Rix?
Does McEvoy?
Unfortunately some like you who come onto these sites just do not "suss" to a very good footballer - you just do not notice the abilities which so clearly set some players apart.
No doubt Koschitzke is doing as the coaching staff require - because he continues to be selected.

Well, I was also at training on Wednesday and was interested to have a look at Kosi and what he was up too...
He was not on the field straight away, but neither were alot of other players who are known to be carrying injuries.
He did a few laps with his knee heavily strapped, before participating in training including streches, crunches, pushups. He then moved onto goal practice with Gehrig, Gwilt, Goddard and some others.
I saw him interacting with a lot of other players, and I personally wouldn't describe his demeanour as bored or dis-interested.
He seemed hesitant to approach the fans, but hey, if he reads these forums I couldn't say that I blame him.
For some reason, I expected to see him a little overweight and slow from what I had read on here. He seems a nice balance of bulk for contested marking, yet lean enough to be athletic when required.

Number of AFL games played by me = 0.
So what. Irrelevant.
Koschitzke being played as a ruckman the topic of this thread eh? Okey doke. How many hitouts does he have from 18 games played? 101 at 5.6 per game. 36th on the list of total hitouts and 48th on the list of average hit-outs behind such giants of the game as Todd Goldstein, Adam Pattison, Paul Johnson and Cain Hackland. Impressive.
I'm pleased for you that you have who is and isn't a good footballer "sussed". You're clearly noticing actual contributions on the field that I'm not. You can talk about noticing abilities all you like. It means bugger all. What matters is actual on-field contribution and Koschitzke comes up short on this measure. As Ron Barrassi said a long time ago, "you can have all the talent and ability you like, it's what you do with it that counts".

ohwhenthesaints,
I don't wish to disparage your post on Kosi at training and I have said before that it's interesting what different people see at training, but:
He was on the field the whole time, but was well away from the group on the fence on the other side of the Animal Enclosure.
His knee was strapped, but I would not say it was heavily strapped.
I agree he isn't overweight, but he is slow and he may be "lean enough to be athletic when required", but he isn't athletic when required.
That's what I saw.
