Max for AA selection ?

Post: # 629367Post howlinwolf »

I just caught the back end of an All Australian talk and thought I heard Max has been chosen ahead of Sam Fisher.

Anyone else heard anything ? Not sure if it was just talk or more. It was on SEN
Congratulations to Max if this is so.
Maybe this will help him to make up his mind about playing next year.

I don't think the AA team is picked until teh season is finished?

ALso, I would hardly think that Max would be chosen because 'Perfectionist' is one of the selectors! :)

I thought the AA team was picked after the season as well.
I'm not sure what the entire conversation was about. Only caught the back end where Tim Watson,Billy and Andy were talking about the surprise Sam Fisher wasn't in and that Max was.
Maybe there was nothing in it.
If anyone else heard it I'd like to hear what it was all about.

was in regard to MVP selections from clubs - players from their respective clubs pick 3 players to be nominated - we nominated Riewoldt, Hayes & Max

The SEN boys thought Sam Fisher was stiff

I agree

and I thought I'd heard the AA committee has been meeting for some time or do so irregularly throughout the season . or is it the Rising star committee.

Max started the year brilliantly but has just been solid in the past few weeks. I would have though his 2006 season was better than this year.

Scarlett has the FB position sewn up. Chips for HBF or BP for sure though. Roo for CHF, although his early season form wasn't AA standard. Perhaps Milne in a pocket is a roughie, but I don't think we have any other AA contenders. Hayes has been brilliant but is probably behind other mids, Ablett, Bartel, Cooney and B. Harvey at the very least.

Doesn't get enough of the ball to make the AA position.

If Sam hasn't been nominated, does that automatically mean he can't make it?

That was for MVP not AA.

These nominations are not for AA but for the MVP award.

Chips should definitely be in the AA side, should have been last season also. Not many other better tall, running HBF's who can play key position when required, and have the versatility to push into the middle of the ground.

Sam not Nominated for MVP- players assoc award
and thus NOT able to win - heard a Lions player say they had cdone their voting today

and a couple had added squares/boxes for players they thought should be there .

Doesn't do a lot of rebounding, which is where Scarlett has the obvious advantage over him, but defensively (which is what a full-back's main priority should be) he is as good if not better than any this. Has been the only bloke this year to shut down both Buddy and Fev and who could forget his spanking of Lloyd. Personally I think he deserves a spot in the back pocket, and Chips on the HBF but neither will probably make it.

Scarlett is a gun of a fullback. As much as I hate to admit because the guy loves himself.

Scarlett is good at running off a full forward and his disposal may be better than Max but Max is a better spoiler.

Max's negating fist from nowhere to spoil is second to none.
He's a GREAT fullback and I don't know who could possibly go close to replacing him at this club ? Without him Fev, Pav etc will kick many more against us.
It worries me to think he could retire this year.
He wasn't completely committed to playing on in 2009 when asked in the Victory room earlier in the year.

I'd have Sam Fisher and Nick Riewoldt the AA team from the saints.

I think ROO will get CHF and maybe captain.
Chips has been outstanding all season and should be on the HBF.
I would love to see max at FB but cant see him getting in front of scarlett

Roo will be the only AA Saint this year.
