Finals Momentum

Post: # 628395Post Kosi#23 »

So if we look at the final 8 going into finals which teams are coming into a bit of form and which teams peaked a bit early?

Teams hitting/continuing form
Geelong - genuine premiership favs
Hawthorn - have to say number one challenger
Collingwood - up their with a shot
Saints - beat the crows who were in some serious form

Teams falling off the pace
Bulldogs - doing what they always do in the second half of the season
Swans - even Roos has said his team are dead ducks or swans in this case
Adelaide - were travelling well up until last week - thrashed by us.. who arn't even considered a genuine chance..
North - were also travelling well up till last week - lost to premiership favourites

Obviously Geelong is the team to beat but we are hitting the straps at the right time of the year... should we thrash the dons I would say we are carrying the most momentum we have had all year... and right in the nick of time..

Come on you sainters!

I wouldn't say North is falling off the pace.

Collingwood have only been in form since they dropped didak and shaw, and played us.

Hawks and Bulldogs have nothing to play for, so will probably be building a fitness regime. They will be hoping that they can overcome losing form.

I like it.

Bulldogs are abit of a worry.

Their form since announcing they were just preparing to play Hawthorn in Finals Wk1 has been atrocious and a 50 point belting of the Bombers doesnt prove much at all.

As far as im concerned, you dont mess with winning form, if you have the formula right, why change it and lose your momentum?

Apart from last week, its looked like the Dogs havent known how to win a match - theyve been a shadow of the side they were in the first half of the season.

True North are not entirely dead in the water but to play the premiership favourites so close to finals and to lose by quite a margin says to me that they have very little chance of winning the silverwear this year.

I agree that it would be tough for them to beat the cats, but a 33pt loss at kardinia park isn't a disaster.

Playing them at the G will help. They lost the Inside fifties badly, but they had a lot of players down.
Would give them half a sniff, but only just of causing an upset in the finals.

Roo's only really lost it in a 5 or 10 minute burst in the 3rd quarter. They stuck by the Cats for most of the game.

Roos were only close due to accurate kicking.

30 shots to 17 tells the real story.

well I think its safe to say that North will pants Port this weekend and therefore go into finals in lucky number 4 position..

Giving them another shot at the Cats... I know I wont be tipping them for a win... definately going to be hard for the Roos to get momentum going playing Geelong twice in a fortnight.

Remind you of any other game?

That's what Geelong do. Put in a 20 minute burst and gain a 25-30 point lead, then hold it. Then they build on it once you've given up.

the roos s*** me for the past two years ive tipped them to be bottom 4 and twice now look set for top four  realistically Geelong are out and out favorites to win the flag , i cannot see them droping two games in a row in the finals when they only dropped one in the reg season the best shot the rest of the finalists have is to suprise them in the prelim or hit em hard in the g/f basically the team that beats geelong in the finals will win the flag
