St Pat, you'd better get that Filth jumper on order.saint patrick on 30 January wrote:Admire your resilence & spunk Casey
...but the deal is 100% done and Frankston will be the saints longterm home and the Peninsula its strategic supporter base going forward.....
If that doesn't come to fruition I will wear a Filth jumper to the best and fairest in 2010...
What will you do when the Frankston Saints become an inexcapable reality

Initially you asked whether I'd apologise if we had the best facility in the AFL, it was ready in mid-2010 and it was in Frankston. Now you've watered it down to "very good if not the best", not at Frankston Park but still in Frankston. That's ok - I'll still apologise under that scenario!!RBnW wrote:Scorp........this is on track.....it is on budget not 5m over that was at Frankston Park......it will still be in Frankston and you will be apologising
and it will be completed by the middle of 2010...... my sorce is accurate on this never let me down......
They are saying a very good if not the best outcome across all clubs and delivers for the local and state govt to.....everyone is a winner
And in fact I'll celebrate if it is a good location, and not a backwater like Belvedere Park. Even Jubillee Park is accessed through residential streets and, if it's Jubillee Park, there's the small matter of the Frankston Peninsula Cricket Club to manage (see http://frankpen.cricketvictoria.com.au/thefacility.html for details about their facility which they will jealously protect).
For your source to be accurate, they'll also have to be miracle workers. The middle of 2010 is a bit over 22 months away. A project worth around $10 million can certainly be delivered in that time.
But, there's a few things that have to get done first:
• finalise site selection (with a proper due diligence)
• plan the facility
• get permits
• tender.
I'd say that it's impossible, unless work behind the scenes is well advanced.
We'd expect an announcement very soon if that's the case.
When do you think we'll get an announcement about a new location (bearing in mind that Thursday is the 9 month anniversary of the announcement of Frankston Park).
And actually Casey ends up being the greatest winner of all:RBnW wrote:everyone is a winner ....except Casey
* the Council spends less on MFC than it would have done for St Kilda
* the Casey Scorpions get an aligned partner who really wants to work with them
* the Casey community gets a $600,000/year community program from MFC.
Ahead on every count, except having the Mighty Saints at Casey.

CaeyScorp, if my mates from Melbourne are correct, and Zebraman can probably confirm this, I've got a feeling you're going to be sadly disappointed in the alignment between the Scorps and MFC.
Their relationship with the Zebras could probably best be described as tempestuous and if they (MFC) staqy true to form then Casey Scorpions best learn how to live in a

environment.
Given the great steps forward in their relationship with the Saints this year, they could well turn out to be the 'big loser' in all of this.

Mr Magic, your mates may well be right, and time will tell.
But I would say that until this year Sandy people were pretty happy with the alignment. It delivered 3 premierships, so I reckon they'd accept a few compromises along the way.
And generally everyone pointed to the Zebs/MFC alignment as the best operating.
This year MFC probably got a little strange from the Zeb's perspective. MFC's focus was clearly on moving to Casey from well before the season commenced, and certain footy people at MFC weren't backward in expressing this. In fact the message was so strong that Sandy took fright that MFC would dump it to go with the Scorps and approached the Saints first. In that context I'm not surprised that the relationship floundered ths year.
Anyway, we'll see.

Went past Trevor Barker oval again today and without wishing to offend the great Saints legend that ground is not even up to the standard of Noble Park's ground......
The deal is done though so we'll just have to make do with visiting an average suburban ground after being spoilt by Casey.....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Spoilt in what way. A gound in the middle of nowhere, windy and coldest ground in the VFL. Good parking that is about it. Sandy surface just as good as Casey and close to where most players live. Sorry they have a grandstand. I can live without that as the social facilites are better at Sandy.bobmurray wrote:Went past Trevor Barker oval again today and without wishing to offend the great Saints legend that ground is not even up to the standard of Noble Park's ground......

I'm not sure what the "it" is - does a tangible "it" actually exist yet.plugger66 wrote:Do you actually want it all to fall over so you can Say I told you so because that is how your posts come across. StKillda will work it out and what ever happens we arent going to Casey and thank goodness for that.
I want St Kilda to get the best it can in the existing circumstances. That doesn't include Casey - I keep saying it's not available, but for some reason some posters seem to oppose it as an option when in fact it doesn't exist anymore as an option.
So what is left. My view (I've said it before) is eat some humble pie and get back to the negotiating table with Kingston. We have a 30+ year lease left, we have extra funds to claer the grandstands. We can get the most "bang for our buck" utilising the site we already control!
Casey Fields would have been the most cost-effective outcome, but the next best is redevelop at Moorabbin.
I don't want it to fall over - I want it to succeed.
But I want it at the right place for the right reasons.
Frankston is a second rate outcome and a financial disaster.
Crap. See above.SENsaintsational wrote:That is precisely what he wants. Called him on it a few weeks ago.
But even then you mention Casey fields as the best outcome. Dont even mention it it doesnt exist just like in 4 weeks when 95% of Saints supporters will not think Casey Scorps will exist.casey scorp wrote:I'm not sure what the "it" is - does a tangible "it" actually exist yet.plugger66 wrote:Do you actually want it all to fall over so you can Say I told you so because that is how your posts come across. Not true at all
North City oval is the windiest and coldest in the VFL.

How did you go in English comprehension at school?plugger66 wrote:But even then you mention Casey fields as the best outcome. Dont even mention it it doesnt exist just like in 4 weeks when 95% of Saints supporters will not think Casey Scorps will exist.
Go back and check the posts.
I didn't mention Casey Fields in my initial post today.
However, SENsational brought up Casey Fields in his/her response.
I simply responded to SENsational's post.

So you have a go at someone's "English comprehension"? Where pray tell did I actually mention Casey Fields in my post today, as you have quoted above.
Please enlighten me oh wise one.
Fair dinkum, glass house.
And your agenda is there for all to see, why attempt to hide it?
And perhaps, as my last point, Mr English comprehension could actually spell my user name correctly?
What do you think champ?
Late Edit: For those with any comprehension problems, just check the search function. Last time I mentioned Casey in a post was over a week ago. On this thread. Not today. Comprende?

My mistake - it was plugger66 who first raised Casey tonight. The point being that I didn't raise it.SENsaintsational wrote: So you have a go at someone's "English comprehension"? Where pray tell did I actually mention Casey Fields in my post today, as you have quoted above.
Not sure what you think my agenda is (unless you think that I'm still advocating the Saints going to Casey Fields). I explained it earlier.SENsaintsational wrote:And your agenda is there for all to see, why attempt to hide it?

You offer nothing but logic to this site besides posters crapola ...
I personally did not like the move to casey, but there seemed little choice with the Frankston deal and since that has become a farce with rising costs it is near on impossible for that to happen.
The offer was too good to refuse seeing that we have washed our hands with Moorabbin, and once that's done, there is no turning back...
I liked the story about us training on a scheduled training day and the Moorabbin Council taking the tracker out to mow the lawn...
This to me is a situation that has gone far over the top and is being petty ...
Get the F*** out of that sh1tful council and find some place that a council is willing to cooperate
The Frankston council is at least willing to cooperate and that is at least a start.
Yes and in breaking news...... a Ferrari has just pulled into the driveway across my home...
What a news flash

caseyscorp's agenda:
Dec 2007
I don't know why you want to deny it. But that is your choice.
I don't mind your updates, when it is all said and done. But your "I told you so" tone just grates on me.
The only time you update it seems it is with negativity about the whole thing. Did you post updates on the announcements of Frankston etc?
Just admit you have an agenda biase towards Casey and that nothing else will measure up.
Dec 2007
Dec 2007Besides Casey Fields might look like it's in a rural area now, but in 10 years it will be in a developed urban area.
Remember this is an arrangement for 50 years - not for 5 years.
Dec 2007I think it would be the best outcome for sure.
Jan 2008The club should be making a decision for the long term and, in my view, the benefits of Casey Fields outweigh those of Frankston. Those benefits include access to a very large and expanding population base (which will identify with a Casey location but not a Frankston location) and access to a top quality ground which will be maintained by Casey Council to the necessary standard and which is the size of the MCG.
Jun 2008The Saints aren't playing games at Frankston - it's a training & admin complex. There is heaps of land for additional parking at Casey Fields, and I think you'd find that Casey Council would have built the extra 80 odd spaces which would have doubled up on Scorpions match days as extra parking.
Jun 2008Just maybe, a more considered and deliverable strategy at Casey Fields may have been the go after all.
Jun 2008Belvedere Park - Melways Map 100 A4
• not too close to the heart of Frankston, where the players and fans can go for a coffee
• not in a location right in a vibrant activity centre
• not in sight of the beach, where the players could walk to for recovery
• no romance of a seaside location
• no Frankston VFL team that we'll share our home with
• those drawings of our new facility looked fantastic – but we couldn’t afford them.
Reality starts to bite, and hard.
Jun 2008If its going to be Belvedere Park, then the people who said Casey Fields is in the boonies might need to steel themselves for a shock.
Jun 2008 (big month)I still think that the Saints made a mistake choosing a poorly thought out and researched option in Frankston.
Jul 2008Casey would have given heaps to get the Saints to the best non-AFL facility going round.
12th August 2008St KFC could have always:
* accepted what was on offer from Casey Council
* asked Casey Council for more
* gone back to Casey Council when Frankston Park fell over.
Okay I've had enough searching now. This was just a cross section. It is clear your agenda is that we should've gone to Casey and the Casey deal is superior to any other deal we will do. That is fact and you are on record with those comments.Casey made a better offer to St Kilda than to MFC. Fact.

Ah St Fid, you continue to make me laugh. A dog with a bone, ain't ya champ.
Totally irrelevant to boot also. I pay scant attention to your posts, when once I did. Sad really.
But in reality, couldn't give too hoots about you. If you want to continue posting about such a minor non-issue, go for your life. Whatever floats your boat. I'm sure you amuse yourself and think you are clever.
Have a nice night and try and smile once in a while. It does wonders for the constitution.
