Armo
I watch the odd game, and listen on the internet, so I don't know.
Thought we'd really found a guy with him. Tough, good skills, bit of a mongrel. Surely on a greasy night last night he would've been handy.
Or are there issues? Seems a waste.

his attitude isnt good enough.Eastern wrote:Quite simple really !!
He doesn't get hold of the pill enough. There were rumours that he doesn't get on with the coach, but no idea where that started or how much truth to it. Also, whispers that he is/was a smoker. Don't know how true that is either !!
there is a rumour that he likes to party to much hence why he doesnt get on with the coach.

For god's sake give him a game for at least 3 weeks-oh hang on we've only got three weeks to go, so the time needed to develop Armo by giving him a solid run in the seniors has been lost for this year.
Whether or not he doesn't get on with the coach he will be a future captain or vice-captain.
Could he be any worse than Fiora? At least Armo has some pace.

dont think being a smoker has much to do with him getting a game in the stkilda midfield. glen archer smoked throughout his carrer and it didnt seen to hamper him. when arm played in the seniors he was sitting in the forward line which for a midfieler aint that easy to get a kick.

Happy with him not in the team, doesn't improve us the slightest.
that said, Geary is spudding it up.
His comic of errors in the forward pocket was a joke when the game was in the balance.
another waste of a first round pick?
does fiora improve us? geary, agree not quite ready.
at the least we will get a body in the side, not one who thinks twice at a contest or wait for his teamates to feed him the ball.
id love for him to get a consistant run on the ball, then maybe we will see a good output from him.

You youth knockers piss me off!!
According to you lot, if a young guy doesn't become a world beater within 2 games we should drop him/delist him/trade him.
Where do you think the future of the Saints is? You need to develop these guys and it takes time....deal with it. This isn't Dreamteams, this is real life.

Armitage played what, 10 games this year? And only impressed in one.
Geary played about 6 or 7 and hasn't really played well in any.
Stop overating our youngsters.
I think Armitage will be a best 22 player for us, but i don't think he will ever be in our best 6.
Geary won't be with us in 2010.

He'd have to become a regular first 22 player first ... and on current form that's no certainty. Kids should get a run when they've earned it, not just because they've had less birthdays than other players.ozrulestrace wrote:For god's sake give him a game for at least 3 weeks-oh hang on we've only got three weeks to go, so the time needed to develop Armo by giving him a solid run in the seniors has been lost for this year.

And he ain't quick either. Quite one paced, like so many of our midfielders.

I have never had the wraps for this guy as an overall fit to St. Kilda.SaintBot wrote:Correct Eastern. Often his lack of possessions could be excused with his lack of gametime however against West Coast he was given 90%+ time on the ground yet could only manage the six touches.
Needs more 15 or so possession games with the 1 or 2 goals.
I love his tenacity, willingness to put his body on the line and early season kicking skills (dwindled now like the rest of the team).
I have never though much of his speed, his tank, his ability to gut run or his ability to get to the ball. One of the few who generally protect others in the team but being small this cant last and he needs th pill more to be damaging.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

He doesn't have pace when carrying the ball. Gets run down way too many times IMO.perfectionist wrote:Have we got two "Armos"? I suppose he quicker than me.ozrulestrace wrote: At least Armo has some pace.

IMO he will be a top player and has all the attributes to make it...
For some reason he hasnt been given much game time, until the game where his confidence was shot in he was on a hiding to nothing out West..
He is a strong kid, who can kick goals, and like Luke Ball, doesnt understand the concept of fear... He has a bit of mongrel in him, which we severly lack... His pace is not a problem..
Must come in the week, and take a prime role in the middle... Not this forward flank/pocket/bench rotation rubbish... Let him find his feet...

Like many others he has struggled under a game plan that demands a high level of fitness.
He will be a very solid player for us within the next 18 months provided he realises the absolute commitment needed to be a top liner.
We are very harsh of young players, especially when looking for reasons for poor performances. Geary looked hugely out of his league over the last few weeks but at other times has shown a bit. He'll probably be a pretty good player when he gets the pace of senior footy too.
We need to give these kids the time to adjust & we will at times get sub par performances in return.
You have to take the risk to get the return though.

The word from the club he was drafted from from is that he has an attitude problem. A mate of mine from around those parts keeps asking me how he is going. He says he has always had the ability but not necessarily the right attitude. Hopefully he will realise before it is too late what it takes to succeed at afl level. Surely he would have to look no further than the great number 35 to appreciate that no matter how good you think you are if you dont put in the hard yards you will get found out pretty quickly.
