Dal Santo amongst best??

Post: # 614483Post duckduckduckgoose »

I just noticed he was listed amongst our best today.
Um am I the only one who thought his game was very poor today?

Now, it is not my intention to turn this into another- lets bag out dal thread, i'm a big fan of his (contrary to what my sig suggests i know).
I'm just very suprised he got a mention- 20 touches 1 mark.
Good tackle inside 50 in the last quarter, but I thought he had no influence on the game, especially considering ball and harvs injured and lenny with a niggle.

I thought guys like mini and gwilt were much better.
any thoughts?

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I know how Dal feels.

One of the worst more likely.

I have just noticed another Dal thread has been moved. Moved into non existence.

I have just watched a replay of the game to verify my observation at the Shed this arvo that Dat had a shocker.

He did have a shocker, lurking around the fringes hoping the ball may come his way (although you couldn't see that on tele because he was too far from the ball), Kicking it to the roof when he did get it.

This is not the so called attack on Dal after each game.

This is fact.

i was annoyed at the 2 chances that i remember and he bombed it long into fwd 50 without lowering his eyes.

He either had a chance both times to kick goals, or to kick to target but he went to top of square, he has to be better than this

I would actually say these 2 instances were highlights in his game today- at least he had the footy.

Seemed to be everywhere the ball wasn't today.

There is always lots of talk about Kosi being a barometer for the team, I would say Dal is an excellent analogy for our current state.

I guess you could say its a positive we won without him today, but sheesh its not something I would like to get used to.

surprised at the 20 kicks credited , so many of them couldn't have been all that memorable in the overall scheme of things
wouldn't rate him in our best 8

He was supposedly being tagged by Kane Cornes (best in the business) according to a few Port supporters - Cornes later went on to Gram in the last quarter

Dal was pretty crook most of the week. May have had something to do with it.

Wasn't his best game though he picked up possessions -didn't put much pressure on his opponent. If he has the flu bug thats going around, then he has a very good excuse.

Has been ordinary the last two, but think you'll find health-wise he's really struggling. Think I heard (or read) he may have even had a hospital visit in the lead-up to the West Coast game. Can anyone confirm this?

word is he had/has tonsilitis from before the WC game.. I can tell you this is something adults dont shake overnight... Knocked me out for 2/3 months before I got them torn out...

If this is true, he'll need some penacilin butt cheek injections to get him up and about til it clears...

Why is it that every time there is a thread on the unaccountable one it gets removed?

He was shocking. Watching him on the tv doesn't show you how lazy a player he actually is. For all those who constantly defend him, how about going to the games without the blinkers and watch his half paced running, his lurking around the fringes of packs as stated above and his pathetic work rate off the ball. He has great skills and wins alot of people over with some of the flashy things he does, but his defensive side is terrible and it is rare to leave a game believing he has given 100% and that is not good enough

a differing perspective-
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 72,00.html
The final play came at the 30th minute, with the score 100-93, when Nick Dal Santo got a hand to Port's Kane Cornes as he had a shot at goal.

It might not have happened six weeks ago, but yesterday Dal Santo's effort was telling.

"That's what's going to make Dal he complete player," Riewoldt said.

"He has responded to the heat and feedback he received and it's what we expect as a playing list."

If he was tagging KCornes he let him get goal side with clear space in front of him. But I think it was Hayes who picked him up from the boundary throw in, and it was the lunge from both players that forced the missed shot & ball up. For a brief moment, with the way the umpiring had gone on the night I though NDS was going to get pinged for a push in the back.
But to claim that moment was pivitol to the game is rubbish, there were many moments in the last with equal importance.
