carlton beating doggies
with carlton vs adelaide next week at aami, the good news for us is that one of those teams (most likely whoever loses) will miss out on the 8
with both teams havign unfavourable draws
lets hope we beat crows in a couple of weeks

Sometimes I think this isn't so much a Sainters fan forum as a therapeutic tool for people who suffer pathological mood swings.
Last week most of the threads were suggesting that we were shoo-ins for the top 4. This week, posters are bemoaning the fact that some of the teams below us won games.
Take a good hard look at yourselves. We are on 9 from 17. If we win 4 out of the last 5 we'll be doing something we didn't do last year: playing finals footy.
If we can't win 4 of these games, we don't deserve to be in the finals.
So it's not the end of the world as we know it.

Top 4's gone begging, and probably a GF as well, pie in the sky stuff maybe, but with everyone else falling down around us, very much on the radar...
Would have to win every game from here on in now, that to me is pie in the sky stuff...

2nd to 7th all lost - just reinforces the fact that there is GEELONG, then there is up to 11 other clubs that are all beatable if not fully switched on.
Then there are the four basketcases...one of whom we unfortunately lost to!
If we lose to port or freo it's most unlikely we'll make the eight - but given how even it is it's not impossible.

Well what I've learnt from this week is that unless you're Geelong you are going to have to put with a certain level of incosistency and see your side drop easy games. Based on that it is so hard to predict what is going to happen because no one other than Geelong has the consistency to win all the games they should.

Our impact in the finals will be minimal...is it worth making the 8 only to get dumped in week 1....
Agree. Let's start tanking right away and build for next year.
I take it that you'll volunteer to tell the playing group that they are wasting their time?
Didn't think so.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

We dont deserve to be there anyway. Lets finish fourth and have Geelong beat the suitcase out of us.....meher baba wrote:Sometimes I think this isn't so much a Sainters fan forum as a therapeutic tool for people who suffer pathological mood swings.

Sounds like a plan.

Did anyone miss the results last weekend?
On any given day...
Naah. F*** it. Let's pack it in for the year.
After round 22, if we are there, then we deserve to be there becoz we won enuff games.
If we don't, then we don't.

we've proven we can beat sydney, north, Hawks, carlton, etc over the past 18 months.bobmurray wrote:Our impact in the finals will be minimal...is it worth making the 8 only to get dumped in week 1....
we lost a game we should have won, thats done and dusted we must look ahead.
If we do make the finals who do we meet? probably Sydney or collingwood, two teams we can beat.
After that? dogs or Hawthorn most likely.
Really aside from Geelong we have the form and the talent to beat any side in the competition, with the exception of Geelong.
we lost because 1. we didn't play to the standard we set the previous month, 2. in a 3 goal game a 20 free kick advantage to the WCE was also decisive.
As for Geelong, an awesome side yes, but, they are starting to get some injuries. the best team in the competition atm, but if they turn up to the finals missing 3 or 4 quality players And 3 or 4 back up players, they will be back in the pack IMO.
did 20 free kick advantage = 3 goals, yes, but we shouldn't have let them get that close anyway.

We'll bounce back.
Just did the Ladder Predictor, had us dropping the Collingwood game but winning the other four.Otiman wrote:For what it's worth, I think we're a better chance at top 4 than at this time last week.meher baba wrote:Last week most of the threads were suggesting that we were shoo-ins for the top 4.
