No way has Jones shown more than Ferguson. Ferg has been a victim of having numerous quality flankers ahead of him and has only came into the side as an emergency key defender. As a 20-year old in 2004 he came in and did a serviceable job as our fill-in CHB for a month or so. Now this doesn't mean that he is or ever will be a gun, but it is a bloody good effort and he showed that he has all the signs of an AFL player. He has been toughing it out in the reserves ever since, but those few games alone put him ahead of Jones.woooosaints wrote:we will delist ferguson and elevate jones hes shown more then ferguson has in 5 years
Jones has shown everyone that he does not possess any basic skills of the game, but is fit and has bright hair. Surely that doesn't warrant a spot on the list.
Ross Young was a similar case and performed far better than Jones. He was drafted by Carlton as a 23 year old rookie, promoted mid-season and showed that he could get plenty of the footy and was a tough tackler (managing 9 tackles in one game). He also managed 3 goals from his 6 games. Young was then delisted by Carlton at the end of the season because he just wasn't good enough to make a genuine impact and was only going to stall the development of the younger midfielders.

and all of them he has turned over the ball with 50% of his 10 possessions a gamewoooosaints wrote:in 1 year jones has nearly played as many games as ferguson you talk about his 2004 spell where was his recall after that??
at the moment the evidence against CJ's senior form is quite damning.
now his magoos form is reported to be decent, perhaps it is a case of stage fright (ie. TIm allen) and I hope with coaching he might be a decent player, but his 2007 form, he was a liaibility in the seniors.

in fairness? stuff that no one spoke in fairness about cj last year. they who could not see the talent as raw as it may be no less about football than my 8yr old sisterOtiman wrote:Some red faces in this thread.
In fairness to most, his '07 was quite poor, but to Jones' credit, he worked his arse off over the preseason and put quite a number on here back in their box.

Franklin had almost stopped to a walk when Jones tackled him.casey scorp wrote:Ask Buddy if he's not all that quick.battye wrote:He's not all that quick.
And with RL at the helm he probably will be a 150 gamer... RL certainly does like him...
It was a great effort to persevere with the chase, but he hardly ran down a full pace Franklin.

Jones '08 deserves so much credit.Otiman wrote:Some red faces in this thread.

Players very, very rarely improve their fundamentals after their early 20s. He's done it. On occasion it's still not pretty, but his kicking has improved a long way... which also shouldn't detract from noting that he's winning a lot of ball, laying tackles, and never stops running.
150 would be a great achievement for him (he's at 17 games now? 23 by eoy games by end of year means 127 more games) it will take > 5 years if he stays health not counting finals, which would take him to ~30.
Wouldn't bet against him based on his improvement this year.
