I think Frankston has dudded us with the oldest trick in the book, the Bait and Switch.

Frankston: "Here, have Frankston Park, develop it into your training base, it's a great location"

Saints: "Great, sounds good."

Saints: "Oh crap, the cost has blown out an extra 5m, could you help?"

Frankston: "No, sorry. But here, take a look at this backwater Oval in the middle of nowhere, it should suit your needs fine".

Otiman I doubt Frankston could predict world steel prices were to go up over 50% since may.

Perhaps you with your supreme intelligence would like to explain to us mere mortals why you make such a comment?

I can find nothing untoward in Scorps posts, other than a perfectly understandable bias towards Casey..

I have consulted the tarot, read the tea leaves, been to the desert and quenched myself with peyote

and each time I arrived at the same conclusion, a move to Frankston would be an unmitigated disaster and will eventually become an achilles heel and a complete waste of money for this football club, not to mention a much less attractive proposal for enticing players to our club, than for instance if we alternatively, built this facility at Sandringham.

The signs are there already for anyone who has enough vision to read them.

Why are things not progressing smoothly?, it just isn't meant to happen, the script is being written with blinkers on, to ignore the signs and to persist with this Frankston nonsense, would be like flogging a dead horse, something with which I'm quite familiar.

I still say St.Kilda in St.Kilda, but if anyone is not perspicacious enough to see the logic in this, then at the very least a move to Sandringham would be a very nice fit.

Plenty of land behind the wing on the beach side of the ground to build this facility at the TREVOR BARKER OVAL, fair dinkum, need one say anymore.

Collingwood have the Lexus Centre, close to the city, a stone's throw from the MCG and the St.Kilda Football Club is now talking about developing some vacant lot in the backblocks of Frankston, oh perleeeeeeeeeeze, wake up,

This would be laughable if it wasn't fair dinkum, FAIR DINKUM.

The Frankston move has about as much appeal as Amanda Vanstone, for starters you'd have to be in the dark to start with, to even contemplate going in there,

turn on the light and pull out as soon as possible before we end up creating a Frankenstein monster that will eventually come back to haunt us!

FAIR DINKUM

Just a couple of questions if you wouldnt mind answering them. Can you give the logical reason for moving to St Kilda and second how do we get the land as it would cost a fortune even if Baysaide wanted to sell it which I would doubt.

I think that would be a Frankenstonian Monster we would create B4, and that monster did not come back and haunt anyone. The villagers chased him away with flaming torches, and he was consumed in the eventuating conflagration, if I remember the book correctly.

Strong parallel to Grant Thomas?

Probably worthwhile throwing this article into the discussion :

Western Bulldogs days away from the brink and financial ruin

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 42,00.html
THE State Government has saved the Western Bulldogs from imminent financial disaster. Bulldogs chief executive Campbell Rose last night revealed a town planning wrangle had threatened to halt the Whitten Oval re-development and bring down the club.

"We were days from the brink and moments from financial ruin," Rose told the Herald Sun.

If the government had not stepped in yesterday to over-rule the City of Maribyrong, the Dogs were facing the grim prospect of being burdened with a half-finished administration building and a $6 million bill.

Rose confirmed the Dogs had only until the end of the month to sort out the dispute before the builders could no continue because of lack of approvals.

As the Dogs racked up wins on-field in recent months, the club was privately fighting a losing battle with the local council, which refused to approve plans for Victoria University to run courses in the re-developed John Gent Stand.

"The screws were tightening as things were going so well on the field," Rose said.

"There would have been a $6 million gap. We couldn't access the money because of contracts in place and we needed that permit."

Rose, on behalf of president David Smorgon, turned to the government as a last resort to save the club.

"The day-to-day business of the Bulldogs is stronger than ever, however this one town planning issue threatened the whole survival of the club," Rose said.

"It needed to be resolved by ther end of the month otherwise we would've been taken to the brink.

"I'm a very relieved chief executive.

"We greatly appreciate the state government's intervention and support.

"They enacted a special part of the planning act.

"If they didn't intervene, we would have had to get the builder off the site and pay liquidated damages to the builder.

"We signed a contract with the builder. The builder was not going to keep waiting for his money."

The Dogs have the $6 million in funding to complete the administration building, but it was tied up contracturally becuase the club could not gain town planning approval.

The City of Maribyrnong thought the Whitten Oval was unsuitable for Victoria University courses for reasons including a perceived lack of space for up to 150 students.

Now the approval has been gained, the funding can be unlocked and the redevelopment finished.

The delay means there will be a financial impact on the club in slightly increased cost.

"It is another problem I have to fix," Rose said.

The planning schedule is now being revised, but the club is hopeful it will be finished before March next year.

But the ramifications would have been far greater had the problem not be solved.

"We have had builders on site, but they have not been able to walk past a particular point because of a lack of a planning permit," Rose said.

Rose said he had been trying to fix the problem for months.

When the Dogs took on Geelong on Saturday, he was at his desk trying to sort out the mess.</p>

"This was so serious," Rose said.

Relations between the Dogs and the council have been strained for about 18 months.

The council has pledged $1 million towards the $26 million revelopment. It is the only body yet to commit funds, which will be dedicated towards landscaping and site beautification.

"We need to maintain relationships and look at ways of improving relations," Rose said.

"We're not angry or annoyed with the council. It's just unfortunate.

"Everything was fantastic at the club bar this one piece of the jigsaw.

"I want to make it clear that despite this scare, we are travelling very well day to day with membership, jumper sales ... everything."

Apart from Victoria Univeristy "in the workplace, learning courses", the John Gent re-development will include community meeting rooms, club adminstration and the club's hall of fame and "museum to the west", recognising heritage of site

There is a very simple answer to that one;

The State Government is LABOR

The Maryibynong Council is LABOR (Safe)

The Kingston Council is LIBERAL(Safe)

Kick your own up the bum and it is over in 5 mins. Kick the opposition up the bum and revenge lasts for years !!

That's it, we need to stay at Moorabbin and build the facility there, just to stick it up the dirty, lying, cheating, filthy Liberal scum.

Now we have a precedent, surely with the help of the state government this whole mess can be cleared up and this stupid idea of moving to Frankston can be taken off the table.

The first time you type St.Kilda you proved just how ignorant you really are, now don't try and continue to type the wrong way in some vain attempt at humour ....

You are just ignorant, and I believe most on here know that.

It's St Kilda NOT St.Kilda

I thought that one of these was is an independent Nuff Nuff (the one that kept planting trees in the carpark every weekend) and the other is strongly aligned to the greens (Not sure which is which). The rest of the Tipsy Topsy led Council is very much aligned to the Liberals. Apologies for causing confusion !!

No, I'm not grasping at straws at all.

I am demonstrating just how ignorant this poster is, and the very fact he has previously stated that he was happy with the Frankston relocation proves just what type of poster b4e is IMO.

and that is that he is full of it.

Quite.

So how about that Frankston deal?

What about we get back to the heartland? Relocate to North Ballarat Oval. Lockett, Frawley, Elphingstone.....our spiritual home is in the Goldfields.
