the value of Confidence and Consistency

Post: # 606818Post saintbrat »

getting the First goal, making the tackle stick, knowing who is there and where their strengths are,

even though we were down last night- the team knows who can do' the job' because they are developing consistency on team make up- and or knowing that the guy who has come in can do it to.

how much confidence did the team get from the Both Nick's goals, how much confidence did the both of them gain- Nick D had another go from an angle- after sticking the first.

( now we just need Luke and Harves to nail a couple :? )

how much better will JB and CJ be knowing they have done it at crunch times in tight games- where MANY did not give them a chance,

noted by a couple of people today- we work so much better being the underdog- for several years it was' the saints will be good'
then when we got there- we never quite got it -- the subtle pressure of being ' the team that will'
now we're back to being underdogs and the maybe team- the team only have their own expectation but there is more detail to how to get thre.

on the flip side how much did the Hawks' think they had it' because they were up at half time? heard one of their -players today say that 'yes that may have been the case' - they certainly lost their silkiness and the pressure showed.

Nick R. Kicked 6 last night and the team stood up and won.

There has been more than one occasion this year where his kicking has deflated the team (2nd Bulldogs game for one) and failed to capitalise on the hard work of the midfielders.

If we are to win the flag this year then Nick will stand up and nail goals from now till the end. It takes great players in great teams to win flags. Goals are what win games and make players great!

Great to see us playing long, direct, attacking footy (not dithering around the boundaries going backwards, backwards and backwards). That in no small way has produced a huge confidence boost and why Dal, kos, Milne et. al are starting to play the way we know they can. And surprise, surprise Roo's kicking for goal is benefiting as well (now that it doesn't take half an hour to get into our forward line)

Oh and well done Blakey, again
