What was so pleasing about Blake's great performance last night was his goal kicking. 3 set shots = 3 goals. That is remarkable for him, especially the manner in which he kicked them. He looked very positive, didn't look around to try and pass it off, but just slotted them through the middle.
This has been the greatest omission in his game in the past and if he continues this he will be a very worthy "1st 22" player for us. I'm sure this will do wonders for his confidence going forward. Congrats on a great game.
Most on the forum have always applauded his effort and his courage but it was just so good to see him deliver on the most important "finishing" skill.
Now it could said that both he and Rob Harvey have improved their goal kicking over the years and if we could just see Luke Ball get this back in his game we can expect to win some more matches.
Great win sainters!

Nice one Fid!St Fidelius wrote:I notice that b4e has not made a comment on blakes game...
b4e has knocked blake for years and even suggested that Rix was a far better choice
Blake played a great game and time for the constant knockers on here to post something about his performance IMO

Cometh the hour, cometh the Blake,
always been a massive Jason Blake fan, masterstroke by Lyon playing Blake in the ruck, it takes a very astute coach to realize what a great impact Blake can have in the ruck, while also winning his own ball at ground level,
to all those Blake knockers, you know who you are, shame on you all.

I didnt want to reply to this post because I think singling out last nights game still amounts to a backhander.
Blake is one of our most consistent, hard working, gives his all week in week out and has cemented a place in the side over the course of five years.
He is the best "swiss army pocket knife" in the league.
I will support anyone who give his all, and not just collect pay check that week.
I will support anyone who pulls on a red white and black jumper, because they are the best our club can muster that week.
Yes I support players like Rix, CJ, Blake, and anyone who doesnt, not only takes on the player they have an issue with me...grrr

you have been hammering him for years and you have had Rix rammed down our throats time and time again.
and that's your best way to try to explain that you were wrong

Well done to Jables EASILY his best game for us. I have always thaught he added some value to the side. Big engine, always gives 100% and usually at least breaks even against players bigger and more talented in the ruck, plus now we can add the "goal kicking utility" string to his bow, a VERY handy skill to have

Has been in our top 6 players all year. Has yet to be beaten across half back. He has allowed us to play Fisher and Grammy in more attacking roles. Blakey is one of those selfless footballers who does what is required of him without question, the team always comes first. The biggest thrill for me on the night was to see his reaction after the game. It's about time he gets the recognition he deserves.
