Agree on all, Rioli is the interesting one? Midfield tagger plays back or Gilbert/Gwilt oversized options or Geary/Baker come in for the job?

Maybe this year?

Would Dempster be able to keep up with Bateman? IMO we need to keep a close eye on Young and Bateman, when they are not shown respect they can tear teams apart.

I like Max on Buddy, (with some help of course)
Blake on Roughy looks dangerous but I guess it's our best option.
Williams is another danger man that is begining to sneak under people's radar.

At least we have a number of options for Williams. Size wise any of Max BJ Fisher Gilbert Dempster and Gwilt could all play on Williams.

Last year round 8 Buddy kicked 1.5, no Max and we lost by 4 goals.

Round Buddy Kicked 5.5 with Max in the team.

I'd put Max on Roughnut and Blake on Buddy (If he kicks 3.7 we win, if he kicks 9.1 who knows).

Therein lies a key.

Buddy will have his usual ten shots on goal. No matter who plays on him, if Buddy has a shocker and kicks 2.8 or 3.7, it will be seen as a resounding victory to who had him. OTOH he kicks 8.2 or 9.1, Hawks win and Max/Blake etc. copped a flogging.

I just hope he kicks like he did the other day, he had every chance to kick 12 or 13 but fell well short.

I really don't have an answer for Buddy, other than to say let's hope he brings two right boots again.

What if Bj had first crack at Buddy, not a bad spoiler, good on the ground and would really expose him going the other way with beautiful disposal. Max takes Roughy and Blake plays loose in the back line to help both out and man up Buddy when Bj goes for a gallop?

Last year Lyon went for a more mobile type (Gram) on Franklin. Like Riewoldt, he seems to cause most of his damage by being too quick for his opponents. It's likely we'll do something similar this week with a smaller, quicker player to take him, which would leave Max to take Roughead.

Isn't the trick with Buddy to centre him, as he gets his goals from near the boundary line with his weirdo kicking style??

Can Fish run with Buddy a bit if he goes up the ground, and then swap with Blake when the ball is on their forward line perhaps???

I also wouldn't mind Yapper getting into Buddy's ear a bit from time to time given we won't have Bakes playing.....a bit of sledging wouldn't go astray against the young turk!!!

who will take on hodge? he's probably as important to them as franklin and stopping him should be a big priority.

we're no chance if we try to shut them down, that's for sure. i reckon we can beat them at their own game. we need to take it up to them as we did against the blues

Who will get Roo? Bateman is a chance but I don't think he can match him for strength and power. Riewoldt is in hot form and unelss the Hawks can find a good option to keep him quiet, I think he may just be our X-Factor!

Gram??? Head to Head, like he did v Judd last week. Or is that going to the same well twice, which could be one time too many? !!

i rate judd higher than hodge (though not by much) so it would be worth considering.

I reckon a lot of people on here are underestimating the importance of Williams to their team. He's an excellent lead-up medium-sized forward, and is one of the best set shots in the league.

Max on Franklin
Chips on Williams
Blake on Roughead
McQualter on Mitchell.
Gram VS Hodge (head-to-head)

Hudghton on. Franklyn
Blake on. Roughhead
MxQualter on. Hodge (most damaging midfielder)
Hayes vs. Mitchell
Gilbert on Cyril

Chips to take next tall and run off and create...

In fact it was quite interesting what we did against the blues.

Shut down the outside mids (Murphy, Stevens).
Leave the inside mids (Judd) in a head to head with an outside mid of ours.

Which means, they can get the ball, but have no-one to deliver it to, so they blaze away on their own and it is not as effective.

I agree with this one.

Take a risk, Hawks forward line works best when oughie kicks his 4 or so.

I would put Blake on Franklin, Max on Roughead and Gwilt on Williams, with BJ playing up the ground a bit, Gilbert up forward and S Fisher floating back and blocking space in front of Franklin.

Risky for Blake and Gwilt, but throw them a challenge I say and see if they are up to it.......

Franklin hasn't had less then 6 shots at goal in a game this year.
So the bottom line is he still gets the footy in dangerous positions no matter who is on him.

You just have to make sure it's closer to 6 then 12 shots, and that you push him into difficult positions
