Also, I was not at the Gold Coast match when we played North Melbourne and by just watching television alone I would be unable to determine if in fact Joey was "tagging" Brent Harvey...
The fact is that the week prior he did a fantastic job on Bell, who this year averaged just under 22 possessions a game, and kept him to 12 possessions in 3 quarters.
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

he's not a tagger
I gather you didn't see the Freo match???
either that or you don't understand footy that much???
I think I know a bit more about footy than you do
Joey was on Bell after the first quarter and Bell had about 12 possessions for the rest of the match
Still waiting on your useless repost without a comment....
AGAIN
Why the F*** bother just quoting me without a comment???
F*** off and find some other thing to amuse yourself if you cannot explain your post
oh I did put a post it was just in the wrong spot if you looked properly you wouldve seen it
Yeah, right....
So Joey has been used as a tagger in his last two matches and you say that he is Not a tagger and suggest that you know more about football than me....
Maybe you should coach the saints because clearly you seem to know more than our coach.
Not a Tagger...

I am just saying that just cos he's tagged for two matches doesn't mean he is a fkin tagger

Thank you
Im with you on this. I think he was only given the role to try and get some form back. Once his form is back we wont see him tagging much again. We need all the pace on the ball we can get.

"Get some form back"???
He played ONE poor game and that was the round 12 games against Sydney.
My point is that some on here have stated that Joey is NOT a tagger and yet he has done well with that in his last two matches.
IMO some on here would not have a clue that he was even given a tagging role in the past two weeks
and that is the same poster that suggests that he knows more about footy than me...
I would much prefer him in an attacking role as well but he seems to do well in a shut down role too...

I thought you said you couldn't tell off the Tv whether he was tagging Harvey or not last week
He certainbly ran free for the last half and a bit last week, and played good footy.
IMO he has had an ordinary season, based on raised expectations from last year, one of my favs, really want him to play consistently....
Will be interesting to see how he goes in the wet tomorrow night...

You are easily pleased on form if he has had only one bad game. He has been average at best this year.
Too suggest that Joey is not a tagger and yet has done a descent job in the last two weeks reeks of ignorance IMO...
Yes grant it he was not a tagger before this but he has done a reasonable job to date...
To merely make a comment that "he is not a tagger" is a stupid remark when you consider his last couple of games....
I suggest that some posters look at games and player roles in the future
Again, you can only notice this when at the game and from reports Joey was tagging Harvey last week.
and the game prior he smashed Bell
enough said IMO
You're not making much sense to me, but I will try and explain why.
Joey tagged Bell well yes, but he did retire one week later, so was hardly in top form.
Joey did tag B Harvey for about a quarter and a half and got smashed, Harvey was BOG by a fair way. Mini then went on to him and slowed him somewhat, he was still probably their only winner on the night.
IMO this does not make him a tagger.
His second half free wheeling was much better, which is his natural role.
And I watch the game and the players roles within it quite closely......
Joey's been used as a tagger to help shake his tag appeared. In the case of Bell, the matchup worked out, and we stuck with it. In the case of Harvey, Joey got done, but when we changed the matchup, Joey didn't end up being held to a tight tag (as far as i could tell, tough to tell on TV unless they make a point of looking for it).
Start him out to play his own game. If he's getting tagged out of it, then give him a run with to confuse the matchups, or throw him up forward.
When Montagna was first breaking into te league Thomas used to give him run with roles, so it's not the first time he's had these kind of assignments. I'm not sure I like it, but it's worked out the last couple of weeks, so no reason to think we'd change the approach.

Agree Joey has been used this way before, but I can't believe we think it worked out last week when we were down by 5 goals....
IMO the first quarter last week was terribly coached.....
