if he does play he'd want to kick some goals.Otiman wrote:picking Schneider based on injury and form pre-injury would certainly have him labelled a "coaches boy".
i heard he wants to be an on-baller but i'm not convinced that he is nor that we should try to make him into one.
he's more of a specialist forward pocket ... a poor man's stephen milne, who so far has kicked goals only against no opposition.
still, that should be handy in a team that has struggled to kick winning scores. play him where he is best suited ... near the goals.
I see your point re:eddyTeflon wrote:This looks ok solar except I reckon Eddy might be handy to help out shut down a small Carlton option like Betts???......Im not sure with mini/geary out we have many other options to play this role and Eddy is at least fit and hard enough.Solar wrote:my guess

eddy and mini are stiff and if schneider doesn't work his butt off both along with birss and baker will push for selection in following weeks
Close to the best team for awhile. Agree with bigcarl, allen must stay in and continue his presenting and breaking of packs.
Gardiner to help king destroy carlton in the rucks.
personally I would rather play schneider for a week at casey to get his form and work rate up (like milne and dal) but can't see that happening. You never know, if it rains (50/50 at this stage) then kosi will play ruck and eddy/mini will come in

2013 trade/draft best ever?
Billings - future brownlow medallist Longer - future best ruck
Dunstan - future captain Eli - future cult hero

I agree about the Schneider comment, i think that's the way too go accept Ross loves him to much to do so.Solar wrote:I see your point re:eddyTeflon wrote:This looks ok solar except I reckon Eddy might be handy to help out shut down a small Carlton option like Betts???......Im not sure with mini/geary out we have many other options to play this role and Eddy is at least fit and hard enough.Solar wrote:my guess

A "coaches boy". Perhaps the coach believes he has a role to player within the team structure?
Need time to settle in, one would think.
As for being a "poor man's Milne"... 44 would want to stand up and back up his last game with another good perfomance.

My question mark over 44 is in big games. Am yet to be convinced.
Agree that Schneider hasn't performed. Fitness would be an issue, and like any structure, all players need time to understand what their team mates are likey to do.

Whats a big game. Would have thought last week was nearly season defining.WayneJudson42 wrote:My question mark over 44 is in big games. Am yet to be convinced.

MG needs a week in the two's, and schneider has done nothing to justify being a walk up start..just my 2 cents

it was. also the wizard cup final, which sort of counts as a big game. i'm not down on schneider and agree that he needs time to settle. the problem is who to drop after one of our best wins for some time and what sort of message it sends to the guy who misses out.plugger66 wrote:Whats a big game. personally I'd give him a week at casey and get a bit of match fitness into him before bringing him back. but i wouldn't be surprised if he plays

Plugger,
Yes, it was... and he did great. Let him back it up.
This week's is just as defining. I hope he kill's em TBH.
There was a big hoo-ha when he was dropped, and he responded the best way possible. Now let's see if he can prodcue that on a regular basis.
Same can be said for most of our team.

I think MG would be a walk up start...but given the weather forecast...cold and wet and at night....maybe the selectors do not want to go too tall????
Schneidr has not played much..and was also not in good form in his last games and so should come back via Casey.

small forwards, as a rule, tend to be a bit hot and cold. it's an unfortunate fact of life. there aren't too many that turn it on week after week, but milne's goals average suggests he is still one of the best going around.WayneJudson42 wrote:Now let's see if he can prodcue that on a regular basis.

Milne and Schnieds in the forward line...they won't know which one to shut down, will they? Still, would love to see Allen up there again too. Do you drop or move anyone out of the forward line from our last match???my les foote wrote:He has kicked 4+ goals in wins against Carlton, Richmond and North.WayneJudson42 wrote:My question mark over 44 is in big games. As a team currently sitting in 8th, these are big games.
He will never produce on a consistant basis. That is the lot of a small forward but he does better than most in that position.WayneJudson42 wrote:Plugger,

Forecast for Friday
Rain periods during the morning then showers. Strong to gale force west to
southwesterly winds, easing during the day and tending northwesterly later.
Precis: Rain then showers. Wind easing.
City: Min 8 Max 13
Plus is at night...and at the G...so no roof.
I think Banger might go well
