pffftttt.... forget their over-rated midfield.... let our players loose at the ball.... and be FEROCIOUS in our attack....

gawd, this is Carlton..... if we can't beat them backing our cattle against theirs, then we are truly in trouble.

Max on Febola...... and let the handbrake off for everyone else.

We are out of form but why be scared of them?

Stop Fevola and you stop Carlton........

Hayes, Ball, Joey

are better than

Judd, Stevens Murphy

Stop your worrying, the team that gets first possesion will win this game

Gibbs and Murphy don't like a bit of tight play - although they are getting used to it. Montagna on Judd is a bit of a risk, but it may be worth taking. Ideally, Ball on Judd would be the great challenge - but can we risk it? It's success would rely on team support to stop Judd getting clear to run.

Lenny Hayes is the real wild card. If, and I say if, he plays - I back his judgement against all, so THEY might put Judd on him ( I would).

It will be most intriguing, until, the game starts, then it will be nerve racking!

And at the G? Of all the games! We could have done with this one at the Dome. Anyway, it's now or never.

And forget about small crowds - there will be 60,000. Let's just make sure that at least half of them r us!

Which brings me back to the lack of a "game meister" for the Saints. It's about money isn't it (not for us but for THEM)? So, where's the promotion?

agree agree stop Fev you stop Carlton & I think Maxy can get the job done on him. Judd will get one of our quality midfeilders obviously and can also be stopped we should win this game + we have had to wood over them for 10 years why should that stop now coz they have Judd naaa.

I reckon Gibbs will play on Milne in the back-pocket in the hopes of Milney being unable to stop him if we lose the ball down there.

I think that they will put Carrazzo on Dal

I think we will use Joey to run with Stevens

I think we will let Lenny go head to head with Judd

That leaves Ball for Murphy (if Murphy starts in the middle).

Montagna did such a good job on B Harvey in the first quarter and a bit last week, why not stifle him again....

FFS, let him loose and leave the tagging to Mini and others.......

Keep Joey loose, he is a playmaker.

Seems to be people worrying about how we curb Carlton's midfield..I think Carlton should be the ones worrying about how to cover some of our better players. Montagna doesn't do it for me as a tagger -he is a natural attacking player with penetrating kicking.

Agree with Spert.

I think the key is to tag Stevens. He sneaks under the radar now that Carlton's opposition are focussing on Judd so much. He gets a lot of his disposals loose (nice way of saying he's soft), but can really hurt with his penetrating kicks...If we get a hard tag on him, we'll be OK, as our midfield is a bit more mature and we should iwn more of the clearances.

Heath Scotland sets them up consistently across half back as well. Very effective for them. He must be made to be accountable for someone - put a dangerous forward on him - ala a Harvey? Schneider (if he can find some form)?

guys guys it will be king and possibly Gardy vrs Kruzer and ?? ackland ? cloke ?? the cheats will be lucky to get their hands on the ball let them chase us all night ... i would play Armo on judd and tell him that every time judd gets the ball to dump his ass into the turf hard the blooos dont protect Judd like the eagles used to so hit him hard with the tackles , stevens is over rated why bother tagging him

St Trav Armo would be lucky to even get near Judd let alone put him on his

arse.

Montagna a line breaker!

Post: # 600097Post Megamaguire »

Montagna and Gram are two experienced line-breakers for Saint Kilda and when they are free to roam they usually use the responsibility well. I suppose Rossi will be looking at a tight slug fest - given that we have won a few close games of late.
I always enjoy a win over the carlton blues more than any other club.
Keep our Saintly feet in the door or in the 8 and make those blues work harder for a free passage into the 8.

I think Judd is the way to go, he has always kept him to low possessions or at least meaningless ones. I could also see him maybe playing on Eddie Betts as he does run with the small forwards fairly well.

I gather you didn't see the Freo match???

either that or you don't understand footy that much???

Joey was on Bell after the first quarter and Bell had about 12 possessions for the rest of the match

..which means that Harvey runs free and racks up another 30+ possies :)

Did you see the 1st qtr last week, was on B Harvey who had 12 odd possies for the qtr...

Might be OK for shock value, but not ongoing....
