HERALD SUN
ST KILDA has been ordered to hand former coach Grant Thomas almost $200,000 in unpaid earnings and entitlements.
County Judge Katherine Bourke ordered the football club give Thomas $90,000 for unpaid annual leave, and a further $100,000 in unpaid salary.
The court had previously heard the Saints had reneged on a deal to Thomas $100,000 hush money after his sacking following the Saints' 2006 finals elimination defeat against Melbourne.
Thomas had sued St Kilda for $272,000.
He told the court he had not taken leave in his last three years as coach, and that there had been a long-standing dispute over leave entitlements.

I agree entirely Richter.Richter wrote:Not all that surprised. Thanks God we got rid of Roddddd as well.
Time to draw a line under the whole murky business and concentrate on the future - which does not include either Grant Thomas or Rod Butterss.
It is wonderfully timed as well, having the bye means that those so inclined can have a week of teeth gnashing, abuse, cutting & pasteing of tired old arguements & recrimination and then everyone can forget about it next Friday as we get back into the real stuff.
It's a shame ignorance isn't painful

Exactly. He was owed money, we have to pay him out.ratismeat wrote:Good on him, if he was owed the money he deserves to be paid. Hopefully last chapter in all this crap...
That old (some current) members of the admnistration forced this mess is a disgrace.
Credit to GT for being a class act publicly - not once has he bagged the club, the players, RB or anyone else despite not being paid. I've got no question he bleeds St Kilda blood. But this payment was not about his love for the club.
It was about an employee who was fired (unfairly) and an employer who failed to cough up.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Maybe GT should sue Rod SoftAs if that's the case?GrumpyOne wrote:No, just not able to be legally quantified.JeffDunne wrote:So can we now assume that the 'white-anting' comments were completely baseless?
One thing this episdoe has shown is that despite all the rhetoric we heard from Rod, the club was/is run like a two-bob operation.

I cant really remember what he said at the time but surely the 100k was for him to not bag the club/players/sacking incident.. I'm unsure whether he kept his side of the bargain there, as I said my memory is sketchy and I might be mixing up things he said privately then reported publicly... But he definitely didnt gag himself.. We didnt pay him 100k he didnt keep quiet.. thats how I see it anyway...

I should add that the leave stuff should have definitely been paid if he didnt take any... I'd be pist if I was sacked and not paid my leave entitlements.. So good on him for getting that bit, but the other??

Yes, Saintsational's very own court report was there. I've posted this link in another thread, but here it is again.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

A sad day for the club....
Both RB & GT have failed the club.
RB using sloppy processes and unprofessional behaviour left loop holes for people to take advantage of the club...
GT, who apparently 'bleeds' for this club, after being paid a huge salary, far in excess of what his qualifications warranted, saw the opportunity to squeeze more money out the club he 'bleeds' for. While others how cared for the club endured significant personal losses so the club could continue to survive & prosper, GT chose to milk the club for even more money that he felt 'legally' was 'entitled' to....
Great work, both of you...
