riewoldt's "huddle"

Post: # 595689Post bigcarl »

good stuff by the skipper in the post-match huddle.

i hope he told them that we can win it this year for harvey.

a truly gutsy win that ought to send waves of confidence through the whole side.

we're not done yet.

he was sensational in the 2 and 3 quarters, got the whole team behind him and said follow me

could be a captain's career defining game

let's hope it is a turning point in ross lyon's coaching career also.

they really turned it on in the last quarter. somewhere in the dim, dark recesses of their memories they remembered how to do it.

I was rapt seeing how the players took in what he said. The end of game huddle was phenomenal! ....I said I wasn't going to tip us again if we lost this game...but we won! Did we learn something from the Freo game??? It sure didn't look like it for some periods during the game...but when we clicked it was truly tremendous!! I'm so stoked!!! :D :D :D

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

His leadership was not at the end (even though it was agood sign), it was on the ground, especially in the second quarter.

His goal in that quarter was the definition of a captains goal.

Roo plays like that and the team follows.

Have never been as big a Roo fan as he deserves - exceptional player, but there was just something that stopped me loving him the way I loved Burkie or Max or Harvs.

Well last night changed it for me. If ever you want to see a player lead his team, play for the jumper and the club, and almost singlehandedly turn around the teams fortunes, it was Nick Riewoldt.

Should he be captain? On last nights performance he should have for once and for all silenced the doubters.

A completely converted captain Roo fan from now on.

brown coat turns up win or loss.

Good to see him enjoy the win.

Miserable clowns like St.Kunny and Little Poser and Iwetmyseats are on the night of a loss but lay low when we win.

All they are a dreary pathetic trolls who aren't really Saints fans. brown-coat can be negative but at least comes on and enjoys the win.

Some cant.

I agree with the above post.

Although I was one who preferred Lenny as captain (but I thought Roo would get the gig) his efforts over the past couple of weeks have been quite inspirational, true "captain's games", and full credit to him for that.

Never ever should we doubt Nick's ability to lead men. Only Harves could ever put more in for the club.

Just looking at the effort always clear on his face gives me goosebumps.

thanks for that brat. nick sounds upbeat and excited.

"move the ball quickly. get it in there quickly. give the forwards a chance to put a score on the board. kick lots of goals"

It was great to see something that has been lacking for awhile.... the camaraderie.
It reminded me of when we were cruising a few seasons ago, the guys congratulating each other and a great Capts game, the Capt ran a marathon , he ran his guts out.
Best I have seen them in ages, they were hard at the ball against Freo and lifted a notch this week.
Armitage continues to impress, J Allen will improve. Gwilt even kept his mistakes to a minimum and I'll say it again,Luv Goddard in the middle
Good game and some good signs.
Still need to look at our FWD structure.
Just got back from holidays and saw the replay, i'm stoked.

Now to beat the Cheats.

When I saw the huddle, I hoped he was sealing a pact with every player: We will never EVER EVER play like we played that first quarter again.

Im around, and I enjoyed it. Dont be too presumptious. I also dont think all problems are magically fixed on the back of that win. But it WAS good.
