There's an idea... How about a free membership, but charge a fee per post (5 cents)?

Thanks for being open and honest enough to raise this with us.
This and West of Moorabbin are treasured places. We can support them, given the opportunity.
we'll do this easy.
if a mod can get a figure in $$ amounts we can start the donation process straight away.
even if u open a small bank account and people can deposit the money into it.....

Yes, I would gladly make a donation for SS
I don't think there should be a membership fee though

Also fully in favour of a SS/WOM merge...subject to Peanut's approval of course!! A combination of the two would without doubt resuly in the best AFL fan site on the net.
And agree.
What happened to the proposal a couple of years ago for a Sainsational Cap ?
At $20 each we could easily raise the money - and more.

happy to contribute $20 or $50 if it keeps the site going.
has anyone considered selling some advertising space on here ... perhaps to businesses associated with the club?
we do get a lot of hits on saintational (many of them are repeat offenders, of course) but website hits is what advertisers go on.
i read somewhere recently that in the UK web advertising this year has outstripped newspapers and magazines for the first time, so it is the way of the future.
notice also that the herald sun is desperately trying to lure punters away from the forums to their own site.
each hit they get on there means they can charge their advertisers more.

yep im a frankstonite. I have been down here for 6mths and i have no laid eyes on harvs in his shop to date. I regularly pop down there on weekdays but still no sight of the great man. I would be happy to get a jumper down if needed.Mr Magic wrote:When Harves owned the AFL store in Chadstone, my son's girlfriend went in one day when he was there, bought a jumper, and had him autograph it on the spot. He was happy to oblige and she only paid the retail price of the jumper.
Given that this is possibly (bite my tongue!)Harves' last season, I'm sure a footy/jumper signed by the legend would be something we could auction off on here?
All it would need is for someone in the Frankston area to pop in to Harves' shop when he was there and ask him?
Go saints in '09!

It would appear from the responses that there are many ideas and lots of offers of $$$ contributions.
I think we need some 'concrete' figures before we get to the point of actually organizing anything?
How much do we need to raise?
Is it a 'once only' need or is there a continuing amount needed?
Is it both a 'once only' and 'continuing need?
IMHO until we know what we are looking for, it's pretty hard to establish what response would be the best to proceed with.
If it's a reasonable sum that is needed once only then that would require a differing response to a continual need to raise funds.
I think we need some guidance from Battye as to what the 'ideal sum required' actually is and if that is a lump sum or an ongoing funding need?
Whatever we (the Forum) decides to do, I am more than happy to be again involved in whatever capacity is required. From the look of the responses there will not be a shortage of either donors or organizers.
I note that more than a few posters have suggested how wonderful if there was some sort of merge with WOM. WHilst I agree that for us 'users' of both sites it would be great there may well be valid reasons why Peanut cannot or doesn't want to. HAs anybody actually asked him his opinion on such a 'merge'?
If not a 'merge' is there anything to be gained by an 'alliance' with WOM
Can we save money by 'pooling' together? (I'm not technologically savvy enough to understand the workings of these sites so please forgive my ignorance/naivete on such matters)

Yes, I would be more than happy to donate cash as I jump on SS every day. Be it for the bickering or breaking news you guys make this site the soap opera that it is! LOL
Paypal is great option for payments via credit cards for those who use it or direct deposit into an account.
I'm not a fan of having joining fees as I think it will turn away newbies as others have mentioned here.
Bumper stickers and other merchandise could be a great idea to get the site some exposure as well.
