Support for Raph Clarke !!
After today's revelations I reckon it would be a nice touch for those who feel inclined to email Raph with your own messages of support. You can send your emails to archief@saints.com.au or reception@saints.com.au and they will get to him !!

a very tough time, the club should give both boys a leave of absence during this bvery tough time..we all know performance is effected by the mindset of the player and we should not expect them to play.
let them be with their father, even if they train away from the team, its sad that they are on call and their father could pass without them by his side.
come on saints do the right thing.

I think you will find the club would have spoken to them and let them decide how they handle it.fonz_#15 wrote:a very tough time, the club should give both boys a leave of absence during this bvery tough time..we all know performance is effected by the mindset of the player and we should not expect them to play.

from my reading of the situation is that the club has supported the bys to fly back a few times but their father wants them to come back and play senior football.fonz_#15 wrote:a very tough time, the club should give both boys a leave of absence during this bvery tough time..we all know performance is effected by the mindset of the player and we should not expect them to play.

In a lot of ways being in a club environment would be the best thing for both X and Raph at present. Be assured the club would be monitoring the situation closely and doing everything possible for the boys and the family !!fonz_#15 wrote:a very tough time, the club should give both boys a leave of absence during this bvery tough time..we all know performance is effected by the mindset of the player and we should not expect them to play.

Raph Clarke is not looking for excuses despite his off-field battles.
ON THE day after a half-strength St Kilda defeated Richmond in its first NAB Cup game of 2008, creating great and unwelcome expectations for the Saints, Raphael Clarke discovered that he would carry his own burden: Epilepsy.

If Demetriou and our club, with the agreeance of North, Port and Footscray, were all fair dinkum, the North Saints game would've been switched to Darwin so the Clarke boys could play a final match in front of their father.
How good would that be eh?
I'm sure Port and Footscray could play at Carrara for a straight swap??
Too late now though.
All the best Raph & X.

Not a bad hour of telly that show is it?rodgerfox wrote:Gilbert McAdam said last night on the Ch31 footy show that the reason both the Clarke's haven't been playing is because of their Dad.
Not due to injury.

R and X
My sympathy to the Clarke brothers for their current travails. I think if in the scheme of life that playing football seems so unimportant, perhaps being paid well to play football is also unimportant and the money can be returned to the salary cap to in some way compensate the club for wasting draft picks on frequently injured and unproductive players.
