A president with REAL passion.....take note St Kilda!
On TFS, there was just a clip of the new Melbourne President, Jim Stynes.
He got quite emotional talking about wanting to take his son to see the Dees play in years to come....even had to stop speaking to compose himself.
It was the real deal, make no mistake, the guy bleeds for his old team.
Does Westaway bleed like that? IMO no he doesn't.
We need a president who bleeds St Kilda, just like Stynes does for his team.

I've had a couple of dealings with Stynes through the Reach foundation and he may not know everything but he is smart enough to know how to get something done and to surround himself with the right people. Good luck to him.howlinwolf wrote:Possibly doesn't have to bleed red white and black at all.
I''ll settle for Brian Cook from Geelong and WCE very nicely thankyou.
Jim Might bleed for the Dees but does he have the nous ?

Don't get me wrong... I like Jim Stynes and have no doubt he is passionate.
And he could well be the best thing that's happened to the Dees but i have seen what Cook has done for a club I despise which was on it's knees.
I'd go with that over passion anyday.
We've had passion over the years.
We need more.

I wonder the same Bev...many were those also backing Westaway and his team at the time...they jump off quick...Saint Bev wrote:Westaway has been in the job 5 minutes and already he cops a bagging. He cared enough to lead a group and get the last mob kicked out (everyone hated them from memory also). Crickey is anyone ever happy on here.

Good call,matrixcutter wrote:just wondering.......does harvs have a business degree???
imagine that, harvs as the main man
president robert
But we do have a certain Mr Nathan Burke and a Mr Andrew Thompson on our board...so the ex-player and bleeder factor certainly has representation.

Everything Westaway and co have done so far has been positive.
We now have plans for a guaranteed premium training facility
We have a 5 year deal with Sandringham
We have a new major sponsor, and a few new secondary sponsors
We'll know at the end of the year whether we're generating more money from outside revenues and whether we have invested more into the team.
Greg Westaway saved this club from Rod Butterss’ ego.
We should be eternally grateful just on that fact alone. We should probably also realise that GW put his hand up for one reason only – and that was his love of the St Kilda FC. Unlike the previous president he doesn’t seem to be there to stroke his own ego.
Stynes is a good change for Melbourne because of the energy he’ll bring to the position. They need that now to survive, like Brayshaw at North.
We didn’t need a high profile president. We needed someone considered.

Either this is a pathetic troll or you are a first class idiot. On TFS, there was just a clip of the new Melbourne President, Jim Stynes.

Because someone gets emotional when talking about their club, does that mean they understand the complexities, have the expereince and knowledge & judgement to carry out a presidental role?
If that's the case, then maybe B4E or Roger from WA could be president, because they are emotional about their club.
Whether stynes will succeed or not in his role (I doubt he will), has to do with his abilities in such a role - his judgement, expereince, intelligence and networks through business. All the guys that take on these role are keen & have commitment to their clubs, but that's not what saves a club or makes it prosper.

Why would you say that? GW has implemented every reform he was brought to the club to implement. He has brought sponsors to the club, expanded the football department and most importantly kept a very steady ship in failrly unsteady times.saintspremiers wrote:Does Westaway bleed like that? He does this in his own time. Every minute he spends working for St Kilda could be spent growing his own business. Do you realise how much his time would cost if the club had to buy it?
He bleeds for the club alright... from his back pocket.
What has JS done for Melbourne so far? Got a bit emotional?

In this harsh new AFL world of business and money making, passion for the club alone doesnt necessarily make a good president...
Eddie bleeds for the Pies, but its his contacts in the business world that turned their fortunes around.. Same goes for Dick Pratt at Carlton, Jeff Kennett at Hawthorn and Frank Costa at Geelong etc...
Jimmy Stynes is a decent bloke who loves his club, but has he got the business nouse to be a gun el Presedente ?...

How much can he do in 15 hours ?Saints43 wrote: What has JS done for Melbourne so far? Got a bit emotional?
