So is Michael Rix's effort. 10 touches a game just doesn't cut it.saints11 wrote:yes but his effort has been very good
Expect this all to be moot when Harves and Gilbo pull out at the last minute. Lyon is obviously a practising believer of the withdrawl method. Perhaps that's why we're playing like we're pregnant recently.

noticed u left the opening game out where he collected 20 touches against the bombers.Red wrote:Armo got dropped because he's struggling to get a kick.
Last 5 games 7, 10, 9, 16 & 10 possessions. Not good enough.
plus he is averaging a goal in every game he plays.
and when u average 59% TOG u dont exactly rack the stats up do ya?
when he does get a game, he is sitting on the pine for just under half of it.

We can't afford to carry three players with under 60% TOG.matrixcutter wrote:and when u average 59% TOG u dont exactly rack the stats up do ya?

King 57%
Gardiner 58%
Armitage 59%
Also Harves at 68%, no wonder we're being run off our feet when our rotations are restricted by unfit players.

Well Birrs out is surprisng....
With Gwilt...they must have like his game on Hall last yeara lot...
Armo...stiff...but he wasa bit quiet last week...but no where near as quiet as Ferg was.
Ferg would wabnt to play well and snaga few goals this week.
Banger and King...if fit are both automatic ins..so now argument there.
Gilbert...yes a first 22 player...but has not played for a bit...
Birss I am still most surprised about..
So does this flag that Gram and maybe Sam Fisher will see some midfield action this week?????

The ins are good, but boy, are Birss and Armo stiff. You woulda thought that Gwilt and Fergo would make way instead of these two, who have done enough to earn their spot in the best 22. To not even have Armo in the emergencies is utter blasphemy.

Jason Blake is still in the team.
David Armitage is not.
Ross Lyon simply has no idea on how to develop quality young players.
And Gwilt over Birss? That leaves us another midfielder down.
Over four quarters, how does he expect us to compete?

Considering Bally and Lenny had 68% and 67% TOG respectively last week, Armo isn't that far behind.
That still has me stuffed - two guns spending a third of the game on the pine FFS.

Wow everyone is quick to pull out the knife already on this one.
Dropping Armitage doesnt surprise me - in the last couple of games he's been hardly sighted. Earlier this week I stated he should play every game so I'm contradicting myself but I could see that one coming. Ross is probably thinking - we know hes a talent, lets give him a run in the 2s to regain some touch. One of the mids had to get the axe if Harvey was to come back in.
Birss is more of a question mark - thought hed found a role in the frwd line and is definatly one of our better kicks for goal. Not sure what the thinking is here but there must be some behind it.
Im happy to see Gwilt and Ferguson being given another chance. They wont have many more this year so lets throw them into the fire and see what theyve got. Glad to see Gwilt played forward.

Birss is one of the few players we have who can deliver the ball to his own team -mate by foot and hand and has been Ok..Milne should have been dropped. Gilbert's form was ordinary before injury. Buggered if I know what Lyon is up to. A 37 yo former great gets a game over a promising 20 yo..go figure the future of the club.

agree with solar, they'll be late changes......again
i bet paul roos will be mega surprised

Are you suggesting that Armitage take Blake's spot in the backline?evertonfc wrote:Jason Blake is still in the team.

Matrix I could put that game in if you like but that would be like you saying
he averages a goal a game but he hasn't kicked one in the past fortnight.
You don't just give a guy a game because he's young. He needs to earn it.
He got the accolades against Essendon but he hasn't worked that hard since.
