Once we lose momentum against a half-decent side, it seems almost impossible for us to fight back.
In all six of our losses, once we've dropped our momentum, we never fight back to regain or grab the lead. All six losses were barely contested once we dropped the lead. Yes, even against Collingwood.
R3 - Western Bulldogs (les by 37 points, no fightback)
R4 - Geelong (led by 2 goals, no fightback)
R6 - Port (Never had the momentum, weak figthback)
R8 - Collingwood (led by 15 points, no real fightback)
R9 - Brisbane Lions (Never had the momentum, smashed)
R11 - Western Bulldogs (Led by 2 goals, laid down)
There appears to be zero mental strength within our team when playing against good teams. Sydney played dreadfully against us in R1 and we let off the hook by Jarred Moore's miss. Likewise, the Tigers missed a shot after the siren - two wins gifted to us.
Essendon nearly chopped us in 20 minutes; and running over Carlton is hardly worth mentioning.
Is anybody else concerned that once we lose momentum, we never, ever fight back against good teams?
...or is just that they are good teams, and we are not?

i was at the game yesterday and was absolutely gobsmacked. the players are just going through the motions. doing just enough to give the impression they are trying. they are a pretend football team right at the moment. just keeping up appearances & galloping around the park. there were times where guys did not even go for the ball, or pretend to go for it or just stand there and watch and kind of do a pretend chase or a pretend tackle.. it was quite incredible at some stages. i actually had to laugh cos it was quite funny. like watching kids who dont really want to play but kind of go out there anyway cos their parents or schoool make them play.

It's become a mental battle at the moment, a battle which thus they far has been a losing one. They are in a mold, and now opposition teams know that if they weather the early first quarter storm, put on pressure for the rest of the game, we will crumble easily. It's happened so much now that they seem too lackluster to try, to mentally defeated to keep up the initial onslaught. When it begins they throw their arms up and heads down and just give up. They need to toughen, they need to find the spirit to fight, they need look at what's happening and rather then just throw in the early towel, go in hard and reflect the pressure.
Hamill, does not play well with others.

i hate to say it because he know he is a great trier but there were times where riewoldt just would not go for the ball even when it was coming towards him and there was no one else around. was bizarre.
if u think im making this up u should review the tape. but the tape doesnt really show what is going on. especially the guys out of camera shot that were staying away from the play and spectating.

We were sitting up here watching it and laughing at it it was that bad. I've never seen a case of a side not trying like that. There were numerous occasions where we wouldn't even compete in the air,just let them mark uncontested.
They're like a team of low paid overworked factory workers,disenchanted with life,struggerling to make ends meet each week. However these imposters are on mega $$$$,surely that reason alone demands an effort at least even if they arn't enjoying there 'work'. Maybe there salaries should be made public for all too see

Massive pay hike for AFL top dog

THE AFL will this year have its first official million-dollar man - and he's not a player.
AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou scored a massive $175,000 pay rise last year to pocket an extraordinary $959,334 package and is set to top the magical million in 2007.
Since taking the job in September 2003, the former player from the North Melbourne Kangaroos has almost doubled his salary.
In the past two years Demetriou has secured a 71 per cent increase.
During the same period, total player payments increased by six per cent. Players' earnings will rise by another 7.3 per cent this year.
The figure also puts him well ahead of his counterparts at the National Rugby League and Football Federation Australia and certainly has him in a different league to almost all of the stars in the AFL.
The average AFL player's salary is just above $200,000 a year, and only three players in the league are paid more than $800,000 a season by their clubs.
and he still cant get the showing of games right on the tv
