Gram probably played his best game and Jone was one of the few that had a go.saint patrick wrote:Time to bite the bullet and swing the machete

Extremely stiff on Jones. Was one of our better players up in Brissy, looked OK against the Dees, and I thought today he played his best game for the club.
Also disagree on Gram - he has started to find some sort of form again. He's an important player. No point dropping him now after he's found the ball 50 odd times in his last 2 matches.

Its easy, bring in the casey team, we then might have half a fighting chance.
Sorry St Pat.... I am just not feeling all that great.

Re: Changes for next week against the swans
Think Gilbo will need a week or two at Casey. Bakes needs another week also. McQualter deserves a crack - he's been BOG fairly consistently in the ressies.saint patrick wrote:Tell me whether you agree with the in's...and nominate other outs if Gram and Jones are to be retained.Behind Play wrote:Gram probably played his best game and Jone was one of the few that had a go.saint patrick wrote:Time to bite the bullet and swing the machete

Gram and Jones were fairly decent. Blake put in a decent effort.saint patrick wrote:Time to bite the bullet and swing the machete

Milne is also leading our goal kicking for this season, we do need him.
As for your ins;
Allen - kicked 2 today in the ressies - needs to do consistently well before getting into the team, has been in a rough patch of late so i've heard here on the forum.
McEvoy - Could well debut next week but, I didn't see him in the goal kicking list or the bests in the match report.
Stevens - This guy is still in school, he may even be doing mid-year exams. He's shown potential but the club seems to be taking a "softly softly" approach with him so far.
Baker - from reports seems to be restricted by his injury, needs more time.
Gilbert - needs games in the ressies before coming back, get some confidence up.
Harvey & King - Lets see how they pull up from their niggles.
As someone mentioned earlier, McQualter is demanding a spot and can't be ignored for much longer.
FWIW these are the ins i thing might happen next week, assuming that Harves and King miss another; McQualter, C. Gardiner, McEvoy (unlikely)

Agree with Gram....His disposal count is very misleading.saint patrick wrote:Time to bite the bullet and swing the machete

He probably played one of the most selfish games I have ever seen. Absolutely no sense of team in terms of talk, shepherding, tackling and general team contributions.
He played for himself today. Let him do it at Casey for a week.
L Fisher, Jones, Blake, Dempster.....And people wonder why we lost....Half the problem is at the selection table......
Tell me: For what reason or role would you select Blake for todays clash? Ended up playing forward because there was no where else for him to go.....
Also, Snieder (*whatever) would have to be one of the biggest front runners in the AFL. Useless midfielder, good in a good team.
Obviously I am very upset with todays game....the worst display of team work ever! No shepherding (they were constantly watching and running with players instead of protecting the ball carrier), No tackling, No protecting teammates, No talk.....Selfish selfish selfish.
Until they go out there as one, willing to work and bleed together....they wont do very much.

Wasn't Dempster the player on Cooney and kept him quiet???
IMO Dempster played a good game

Well Gwilt certainly proved something today.
He can't get it.
And when he does he turns it over.
I suspect that will be his last AFL game - ever.

Mini was playing better than Birss in the VFL. Another BOG this week for Casey should see him a certain selection.
Stick with Ferguson until we can get delivery into the forward line right.
If Riewoldt and Koschitzke, two of the best power forwards in the league can't get it, Ferguson doesn't have much hope. His ground level work is better than anyone else on our list not yet in the 22.
Miles could even get a gig after playing a great first up game back from injury (3 goals playing in defence). Should get Eljay's LTI spot.

Why would we bring Harvey in? I know he's played a lot of games for our club. BUt seriously, we're not going to win the flag, what is he achieving by getting embarrased by our insipid performances. Let him retire a champ - his last finals series won him a GF remember. It's on a DVD - I've got it at home.

I'm glad agreement is slowly forming that the awesome threesome of L Fisher, Blake and Dempster are not f****** good enough to play AFL football, and I put Clinton Jones there too. I'd drop Ferguson also - he has shown over the years that no matter how hard he tries he is NOT good enough - replace with X if he's ready.
So you go with Allen at FF... and Kozi CHB to get some sort of... touch
and let's forget about S King. Bring in McEvoy as ruck two and get some experience into his body.

Re: Changes for next week against the swans
Tell me those ins are a joke. Firstly Gilbert will start in the seconds if he plays. Allen again didnt do anything yesterday and neither did Steven in a lower comp but because we didnt see them do nothing just bring them in anyway. Bakes is still probably not fit enough and finally it has to be Ling or McEvoy as we cannot have 3 slow ruckman in an already slow side.saint patrick wrote:Time to bite the bullet and swing the machete

Now the outs. You didnt go to the footy yesterday I hope otherwise you were in a bar without a TV. I am no CJ fan but was in the best 6 yesterday and Gram in the best 3. Dempster was also good yesterday and Milne is our leading goalkicker by a margin.
So looking at your ins and outs I would say not even close.
In: Harvey, Mini, King/McEvoy (depending on fitness)
Out: L Fisher, Gwilt, Blake
Dempster did a good job on Cooney and Ferg did no worse than the rest of our forward line (and was played in defence for part of the game anyway)
CJ, Armo and Geary must be persisted with.
If King doesnt come up and Rix plays I will scream. He's livng breathing proof of the chasm of difference between AFL and VFL footy.
Oh..if X comes up he's in for Schneider.
