Carlton 30 points down win

Post: # 582544Post Goody »

This is like a horror story for us, how can firstly the Swans win against all odds over in WA, and then Carlton win in Adelaide against Port after being down by 30 points at 3/4 time!!!
This is just the start of our major downfall.
I can sniff 2000 in the air when Timmid was our coach and took us to the depth's of despair.
I spose it led to good times in 2004-5 but is it worth it.
Our new Pers promised "Footy First, as Ive said before its more like Fisting First at the moment.
Carlton will now jump us on the ladder and then we have a hard run till we meet them, my prediction for us is now gone from top4 to about 13th if we are lucky.

Still above Carlton on percentage. Still ninth and only half a game out of the eight, in fact.....

Grow some balls mate, and next time, think before you post crap like this.

Yeah we are only 5 games out of top 2 that we expected to be, 4 games out of top 4......yeah we are doing great for a power side in the AFL.

Accept mediocrity......no thanks.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Blame the media for your expectations, who put us on a pedestal at the start of the season. However if you look at it closely, we never deserved that pedestal. Our 7-3-1 record from the last 11 games last year definitely flattered us. Whilst we had a couple of good wins in that time, we surrendered the game in the last quarter twice, and fell in against two sides who weren't playing to win in Richmond and Carlton. In addition, we fell over the line in 3 out of our 4 NAB cup games. Our off season recruits have also fallen below the lofty expecations we placed on them. So hence, we were made out to be this great team when we actually didnt deserve those accolades at all. We are only a midrange team at best, and have been for nearly 24 months. This isnt accepting mediocrity, its just cold hard fact. And for you to seemingly be in support of the OP and how we are going to capitulate like we did in 2000 is just a big knee jerk reaction.

The saddest thing I saw today was a guy in front of me wearing a T shirt with "Saints, Night Premiers" with a team picture on it.

That is all we have to celebrate in all these years.

Good teams can be trailling by 30 going into the last and can win. We can't. When we are down by even a goal, we don't look like anything like winning or even trying to win (collingwood game is an example of that). We've got a lot of work to do.

Opinion, which will prove correct.

That's not true. What about The Streak DVD. That keeps we warm in these cold nights ...

Sadly your probably Carlton will win premierships before St.Kilda does.
That's because Carlton know how to win premieships, the St.Kilda Football Club hasn't got a clue how to win one.

If we are 30 points up we go defensive and possibly lose.
If we are 30 points down it's game over.

We haven't got a clue on how to even kick a goal.

Enricco, you are right.

ST KILDA: 5.9, 11.13 (79) kicked 6 . 4 in last quarter
WESTERN BULLDOGS: 11.13, 15.16 (106) kicked 4. 3 in last quarter

IF we had managed to STOP their goals whilst we were scoring in the last quarter we too would have won with a 6 goal to little last quarter.
same as Blues-

You need to win the game not the quarter. Please accept the fact our team is not that good, don't live in the past few years.

I know that Behind play was just pointing out that the ability to stop them scoring was also a problem and if we had them the turn around would have been similiar.

Just between you and me,
I think the Dogs were cruising in the last quarter.

If the pressure had still been on, I doubt we would have scored two goals much less six.

This constant fear of Carlton being better is a definite sign of weakness.

Exactly. Why do we always compare ourselves to a side that has won 16 prermierships. They haven't won at all in the last 13 or so so why would we care what they do or what their culture is. They just got lucky and cheated all those times. Lets stick with the St Kilda way.

I remember long ago a coach we used to have who didn't dare let the side sink into medioracy .....hmmmm...what was his name again???   Tom Grant or something along those lines 8-)

I was following that game today while I was having lunch and thought the whiney Blues were done for....it wasn't until I explained to someone I wasn't choking on a chop as to what had really happened!!! Bloody Blues!!! How much over us are they now on the ladder?????

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Listen here Midas Touch Ive followed this side since I was born and have been through thick and thicker. Dont tell me to grow some balls, mine probably dropped when you where born arse wipe. This is a forum and when poeple feel like posting their feelings and /or opinions after what i consider a crap game we bloody well can.
As said above if we accept this shite we will live in it for years, time to get tough and if a few of our prima donna's get the heave ho, stiff luck.
Hard times are shaped by hard men, and in our case a few hard men are needed both on and off the field. We need to meet this time no accepting weak arse performance and promote those who are our future.
By you telling me to grow balls is not our problem so dont shoot me for stating the bleeding obvoise and calling it crap!!

Nicely put.

Had a couple of cheapskates come in front of me the other day (you know the ones who dont have a seat until the attendants disappear at 3/4 time).

A particular player who I just don't rate caused a turnover for a goal and I voiced my disgust.

Fathead in front proceeded to tell me player X was a mate of his....

And?.... your point is?

LOL God help us if we can't criticise the efforts of the players who are earning maybe 3 times what I'm earning and I use my days off to go watch them play.

Same on here, it's an outlet for the same anger and disappointment.

So don't tell us what we should and shouldn't feel.

Oh perleese, this is utter rubbish analysis....

It was obvious the Doggies took their foot off the pedal and let us score cheap goals in rubbish time.
