Or one can say it reinforces the Saints ownership of being a "Bayside Club"...with two Bayside venues and catchments.borderbarry wrote:Good work if we are staying at Moorabin. Stupid if we are moving to Frankston.
Though a Training venue at Sandi would have been great....

Absolutely amazing, totally rapt, another gr8 move from the new board,
We the members of this football club are very lucky to have the current people who are running this club in control
I just wished we'd done the deal for the new training facility at the Trevor Barker oval in Sandringham instead of Frankston.
I love to be able to back out of the Frankston deal and build this state of the art facility in Sandringham at the TREVOR BARKER OVAL
If your fair dinkum, in your heart of hearts St.Kilda's new facility should belong at the TREVOR BARKER OVAL
It just makes perfect sense.
I was always a bit peeved that St.Kilda were not always aligned with Sandringham, thankfully if this is true, this is great news.
Frankston's VFL side want to be a stand alone club.
Is there any way we can back out of this deal and totally embrace the Sandringham alignment with a training facility at the TREVOR BARKER OVAL?
If so, make it happen and pay Frankston council whatever compensation is required!

Makes for a slightly awkward remainder of the year...
But Casey was always a better fit for us.
So the Demons have been given a heave ho??? or did they heave ho the Saints to take Casey off us......though with them taking over the Casey Ground as a training base it would be logical fit for hem t have Casey as their AFL affiliate.
Dees with Casey...and Saints with Sandi would seem to be a win win for both AFL Clubs.

This is a very good article which shows a little of the history between the Saints,Sandringham and Jack & Trevor Barker.
"Jack is immensely proud of the loyalty Trevor showed to St Kilda, particularly given Melbourne’s efforts to woo him into a red and blue guernsey.
"The opportunity came when they tried to get him to Melbourne and (former St Kilda president) Lindsay Fox got up and said, 'You can't leave, you can't leave', but (Ron) Barassi more or less had him signed to go to Melbourne," Barker said.
"He was so dedicated to his side and even after he left St Kilda and went to Sandringham … he said: 'I'll always be a St Kilda man'. I love St Kilda and I've had many good days and times there.""

I don't believe there is the necessary land around Sandringham that would enable what is being envisaged at Frankston to be built around Trevor Barker Oval..The Saintsational Man wrote:Awesome news.....very very smart move.....a training facility @ sandy would be much more attractive.....
Will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
You would have thought that Melbourne, who have been bereft of a 'home' for so many years would have 'done the deal' at Sandy if it was possible, rather than move out to Casey?

TB Oval is in Sandringham, maverick wrote:About 12-15 years ago in fact.JeffDunne wrote:Since when?
That information is correct, Bayside Council for TB oval and Kingston for Moorabbin.
Sandringham is in the City Of Bayside...which was formed in the Kennet inspired Council amalgamations.
I do not think that Sandringham was ever part of the City of Kingston.
