Being 'soft' is not us
Thursday 29 May, 2008 - 17:02 by Luke in Default
Being called ‘soft’ doesn’t sit well with me at all and it shouldn’t with anyone. As an AFL player it is probably the worst thing someone can say about you or your team and we have been stuck with that label after our poor performance against the Brisbane Lions on the weekend.
Bottom line is we didn’t go in hard enough for the ball and the Lions applied plenty of tackle pressure. They destroyed us in a game we didn’t turn up for.

as a player of character and toughness, Luke ball is already there.
If he works any harder he'll kill himself.
go go luke
Along with trevor barker, nathan burke and Robert Harvey my admiration grows for you with each passing week.

No doubt there will be some fire from the Saints this week, but will it last?
Let's not forget the squibbish effort for 3 quarters against Footscray.
Seems like it takes a while for them to learn.

As the paper said the other day, our two most determined and productive players are Ball and Hayes. I'd be totally cool if Ball did nothing more to exert himself....but get the other 20 off their butts and maybe we've got a real chance this season!
I had a bit of a chuckle this morning reading the paper in regards to Roo claiming we're not consistently soft, while he was doing "light" training drills
I'd love to believe we can get this baby back on the tracks this Sunday! Let's go Sainters!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Pardon me but I'll believe it when I see it.
Not talking about Bally but the amount of hot wind that comes out of Moorabbin these days is ridiculous. There's been too many grand statements made by players and coaching staff to believe their crap until I see it.
More action & less meaningless statements would be great.

Exactly right. We need some second stringer players to stand up and take the challenge. I dont want Ball to be injured due to lack of spirit from other players. I dont question Luke Ball's endeavour.Dan Warna wrote:as a player of character and toughness, Luke ball is already there.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency
