Roo Against Melbourne...where would you play him?
Since he's only about 80% and a terrible kick at goal, would you play Roo on the wing and place someone like Allen at CHF? Kosi at CHF?
Have we played him on the wing before?

If he only 80% fit he can only play forward.degruch wrote:Since he's only about 80% and a terrible kick at goal, would you play Roo on the wing and place someone like Allen at CHF? Kosi at CHF?

Assuming he improves during the week, that is.plugger66 wrote:If he only 80% fit he can only play forward.degruch wrote:Since he's only about 80% and a terrible kick at goal, would you play Roo on the wing and place someone like Allen at CHF? Kosi at CHF?

Spot on. Roo is our best forward. If he's injured, rest him. If not, he's a mobile CHF as always.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:hes not hopless up forward . but if hes not fit i cant see any advantage in playing him if resting him will make he better then ffs rest him the Flags not ours this year so lets not destroy our most valuble player when hes not fit to finnish 10th

Well, if he converted more than about 30%, I'd agree. But, he is by far the worst shot at goal I've ever seen. We sorted Stewie Leowe out, so I'm sure a good kicking coach will help Roo too.
In the meanwhile, we've got some good forwards waiting for some match time, Roo is an awesome mark and big runner, when fit, absolutely perfect for the wing. Whether it will happen, I dunno...but if you were going to experiment with team positions, would this week be the best time? Alternatively, is there a place for these new guys with Roo still in place?
C'mon you lot...this is constructive critisism, not negative fantasy like sacking the coach, sacking players mid-season, or constantly s*!t-canning the same players over and over. I know its a bit out there, a bit whacky.

It was a desperate move by a desperate coach to play him against Brissie.
I guess Lyon thought it was better than first-gaming Allen, for instance.
BUT.....at the Dome, I'd seriously consider giving Roo a week, and perhaps 2, off to get his body right.
Surely this week is a good opportunity to blood Allen?

Apparently Roo is a good a kick as every other forward in the competition.
CHB BTW - We really lack a dominate CHB that dictates the game. Structurely we are really struggling in this area. Chad Cornes mould.

Well to be fair, most of us who think Roo is as good a kick at goal as just about anyone (there are certainly better, but they're not as ubiquitous as other threads have had it) were posting before we had degruch telling us Roo was the worst kick at goal he's ever seen.Spinner wrote:Why?Sainternist wrote:It was Peter Hudson that helped improve Stewie's accuracy at shooting for goal. I'm sure we're all duly chastised.
The miss on Sunday was a shocker.

Unforutunately, it was also typical.BAM! (shhhh) wrote:

He's a very very worthy competitor, great for the team, but a disaster on two legs up front. Play him off the wing to get his confidence back, and a kicking coach would be nice. Good luck getting Plugger back to St Kilda in any form.

Nonsense. He misses his share like anyone else, but that miss was anything but typical. He's a very stright kick, and from that distance you'd expect it to go through.degruch wrote:Unforutunately, it was also typical.BAM! (shhhh) wrote:

He clearly shanked it, which is an aweful mistake, but hardly what's responsible for most of the kicks Reiwoldt misses.

get so perspective all players miss goals its just cause we want to see Roo kick them it becomes more obvious to us look at Pav highly regarded as a top goal kicker yet twice this season he has hit the post in very gettable situations that have cost his team the game ... we are very over critical of our RooBAM!
