Not sure I agree with Lockett as no.1 due to "being in a dud team". Tony received plenty of excellent clear passage from legends like Nicky Winwar. and had a marvellous CHF working as a distraction for much of his time at St. Kilda.
you are both right. early in his career he played in some of the biggest dud teams in history.

we finished bottom or very close to it in his first four years in the game.

we came up ... a bit ... in 1987 on the back of lockett's 117 goals and the recruitment of winmar.

later the teams improved .... but even then once you got past loewe, winmar, harvey, burke and frawley we struggled for depth

loewe ended up in the top 10 st kilda players i've seen, but early on he was ughhh ... merely a big kid with huge hands.

he is a testament to what hard work and guts can bring because apart from his marking, imo, he wasn't a natural footballer.

his kicking early on was a bit of a joke and when he took one of those big marks he clearly didn't know what to do with it. yet by the mid to late 90s he was one of the best in the business.

a ruckman I think.

played one game for us ... a loss in 1985 against carlton at princess park.

wore No. 50.

I'm guessing he didn't set the world on fire.

I'm thinking u guessed right BC.

Don't worry we had plenty like too....we continually have rants about our "hack" players over the years and brings about plenty of laughs. I guess the Collingwood version of Enrico Misso would have to be Bruno Italiano who we had on our list many a year ago.

Tony Locket is the best player I have ever seen, but I remember seeing the Everton fans holding up signs after Wayne Rooney left for Man United and they said "We hate you so much because we loved you so much" and I think thats the way most of us felt.

Wake me up when September ends.

Harvey for me. (And that is with a limited knowledge of any other player)

Has there ever been a past player who has racked up as many games as Harvey and remained a top 5 player week in and week out?? I'd find it hard to believe there was one - not that it should ever detract from the clubs greats but for sure, we're watching a living legend at work at present! Go Harvs!!!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
