Jack Steven
I realise he's doing year 12 this year but any chance of him making a debut this year?
In the nab he showed he wasn't affraid to get in and under and mix it up.
He provides good run and will be a future star.[/b]

not a rookie, just a very naughty boy....jill wrote:He's still a rookie isn't he? But yes - he's going to make it!
all serious it would be great to see him get a game or two but that would put him ahead of schedule

With what, all his 4 possessions.
What a difference kicking a late chance goal to snatch a game does for your reputation.

Re: Jack Steven
The possession stats don't do him favours. He didn't get much game time however the way he went in and was willing to block and tackle was positive. Especially from an underaged kid.Spinner wrote:Showed in the NAB cup?LENNY LEADS THE WAY wrote:I realise he's doing year 12 this year but any chance of him making a debut this year?

Ellis was NOT number one draft pick.

maybe he only got a few possesions .. but he also had limited game time.Spinner wrote:Showed in the NAB cup?LENNY LEADS THE WAY wrote:I realise he's doing year 12 this year but any chance of him making a debut this year?

Importantly in the vision I have seen of him he knows where to run to get the ball and is clever when he does get it. Will need to work on his strength to get a game at the top level as he was too easily moved aside - but that will come - hopefully a good preseason on the weights.
I dont often get excited by glimpses of pre-season form - but I think the kid has got what it takes to burst onto the scene next year or the year after.

Really excited about this kid, doubt he will debut this year, but I would expect him to play 16+ games next year in the forward pocket and hopefully getting some bursts in the middle...
He is a future Simon Black type player (obviously very unlikely to reach the same level) and I hope he will play a big part, along with Armo, in the future of our midfield...

There is no science to it....
Sometimes you just see a young kid/player and you think....yes they have something special about them...
I remember the fist time I saw Everitt play...was at Kardinia Park in the reserves...he just reached down to scoop up the ball..and then slotted a magnificent pass....and I thought then that yes he would be something special.
Steven makes me think that.
He has not done a lot yet...but what he has done just shouts class...
He looks to be a player.
Very early days yet, but I think we will pick looking back in future years at pick 42 in future as one of our bargain pick ups.

Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Speaking to John Beveridge at Casey a couple of weeks ago, Jack is very unlikely to play any football this year due to school coming before footy. He is finishing off year 12 much like Luke Ball did in 2002. He has only been completing about 50% of the training sessions.
Jack is the most exciting player I have seen come through the club for sometime. Has a bit of an 'X' factor that I think we seem to be lacking at the moment. His toughness will be a major asset to our team in a few years time.

I remember thinking the exact same thing, at Moorabbin in the 2's. I was probably 8 or 9 years old then. (when did he make his debut?)saintsRrising wrote:I remember the fist time I saw Everitt play...was at Kardinia Park in the reserves...he just reached down to scoop up the ball..and then slotted a magnificent pass....and I thought then that yes he would be something special.

less than 10 years old at the time. Thought he was a pure hack. Which my uncle has reminded me for quite some time.
