Joey is still solid, not improved, but hasn't declined on an individual basis.
S. Fisher is not playing as loose as he has been.
L. Fisher broke out of the blocks early with a BOG effort, some reasonable tags, then back to casey after a few bad games.
Kosi undoubted, really struggling this year
Gehrig yep, well publicised
Gram, hasn't looked likely this year except one game (NAB GF)
Fiora is in his last season unless he improves dramatically.
Raph Clarke has lost confidence somehow, he should be raring to go. Give him time to settle into a forward role.
Gwilt hasn't played a game this year, but has been okay for Casey. Can't tell as yet.
I'll add to the improved list. (Casey players based on listening to the matches on radio, reading match reports, and the collingwood game yesterday).
McQualter
Ferguson
Allen
Howard (really impressed in the game against Collingwood)

Only Armitage has improved for me. Lenny has been great for years, so he hasn't improved as such. Disappointments plenty though. Both Clarkes, both Fishers the biggest culprits. Fraser is finished so let him go out on his own terms. Fiora would be better off somewhere else, and Rix is not AFL standard.

There's going backwards and going forwards, and there's standing still in your career.
Too many Saints players are standing still and not taking the next step, and a couple are falling backwards...most of the forwards at the moment are definately leaning backwards.
We have two players who just stand out amongst the rest -S Fisher and L Ball (I'm letting Harvs out of this argument as he has done his bit for the Saints). Consistant good players who work harder than the rest of the group.

Lenny Hayes is consistantly the hardest working player at the Saints.spert wrote:There's going backwards and going forwards, and there's standing still in your career.

I actually thought X had been playing pretty decent, alot more constant in games this year than last year when he'd come in and out at spurts... we need him back, he's so hard and courageous if only he had a bigger frame he'd be amongst our best.MikeSheahan wrote:Only Armitage has improved for me. Lenny Hayes is among a handful of players who bleed for the club every time they get out their, one of the guys who don't stop till they drop.plugger66 wrote:Lenny Hayes is consistantly the hardest working player at the Saints.spert wrote:There's going backwards and going forwards, and there's standing still in your career.

Add BJ to the improved list also, all be it because of injury return.
Whilst Hayes is an absolute favourite, he cannot be classed as elite because he had at least 2 chances to kick goals last night and could not convert, the very best simply do it, week in week out, Harvs even kicked one from 45 last night.
Our best are flawed, its the harsh reality, is it coaching, or is it drafting, but Milne is almost the only natural goalkicker on our list.

i dont think you can count guys returning from injury in the improved bracket unless they improve over and above where they have been in the past.
i mean coming back form injury is a given. so u cant count bj, hayes, garnder.
the criteria is of players improving as footballers from previous periods.
not sure you could name 1 on the ntire saints list this year under that criteria apart from armitage and geary who have come from nothing.

X has improved alot he was really showing some good signs this year
Gardi getting on the feild is an improve
Armo
Geary
Allen
Blake - not much scope to improve as his skills are limited but seems to have settled a bit and not make as many stupid mistakes
sliding
kosi - really isnt looking like the player who we pinned our hopes on anymore
Gram - i dont know if a player can get softer or if the expectation is higher on him now and hes just not up to it but definatly the biggest dissapointment of 08 so far
G- a case of one season too long his mind looks willing but the body looks done
Gilbo - maybe hanging round Gram to much kicking became woeful and his tackleing became laklustre b4 injury
same old same old
you know what you will get week in week out from
Roo
Lenny
Joey
Harves
Sam Fisher
Max
Dal - depending on whos taging him
