thanks, the story is.... i work at a foxtel kiosk at one of the major shopping centres and my boss who knows i am a saint struck up a conversation with a person who was watching old st kilda footage on one of the kiosks tvs. the person identified himself as one of the players and said he use to captain the club and he wore the number 44. he then autographed my copy of the dvd wall to wall, however i cant work out who it is as i was not down there myself.

Wayne Judson ? Think he was 44, but I don't think he was captain.

Having a look at that list and knowing a little about Devo I would guess it was him having joke otherwise and more likely it was someone lieing.

...and none of them were captain.

I think, like Saintbrat, that it is a trick question.
Barry Breen did wear 44 in his first year.
And then moved to 4.
Though he will always be best remembered wearing 27 :D

And became captain for a year in 79 under the swampfox.

I have no idea who the person is... but thanks for bringing up the question. It's really interesting to hear about the old stars who've played for the club. I appreciate it a lot.

Milne captained St Kilda for a NAB Challenge game a few years ago against West Coast.

...and that's the end of that chapter... 8-)
