Do we have any game busters?
Can somebody please advise who on our list is capable of busting a game apart.
Look at Geelong, they have Ablett, Johnson, Mooney and probably others who can swing a game in 5 minutes of brilliance.
I look through our list and the last guy we had who could do that was G Train of 2004-05.
Also, a lot is made of our second half of the season last year, yes we won games, but we never absolutely smashed a team, we just won.
In the 2nd half of 2003 we not only started winning, we smashed and other teams in the competition started to fear us a little. I don't believe anyone fears us anymore because they all know we are beatable.

No....though Roo can have patches approaching it.
Kosi sometimes threatens......but does not deliver.....
Grammy had one goldern year....
We win (against good teams) by having the majority of the team playing well for most of the game..........which at present is a rare event.

Cats game we had 29 scoring shots against the cats...the highest by any team for quite some time.The_Dud wrote:our current gameplan doesn't give anyone a chance to attack and bust open a game
Dogs game saw plenty of ball to the big forwards in the first quarter....
Gameplan gives players plenty of chances to shine if the players are good enough....
...thing is when passes are kicked to the advantage of the opposition it is pretty hard for anyone to star.

when your continaull kicking to a 3 on 1 in your forward line, ur gonna find an opposition most of the time.....saintsRrising wrote:Cats game we had 29 scoring shots against the cats...the highest by any team for quite some time.The_Dud wrote:our current gameplan doesn't give anyone a chance to attack and bust open a game

Scoring shots result when the players do what they are meant to
troube is too many of our players cannot seem to nail goals on the run.
Armo is a welcome change in this regard.

i'm not saying that our goal kicking isn't a big problem
but when we continually move the ball slowly, chipping around, flooding up the ground, allowing the oppositon to play one or two men loose in defence, and bomb it in long after theres no other option, i'd say that thats the gameplan, not the players
if we played like the Hawks, Dogs or Cats, we'd be up that end of the ladder atm, with the Hawks, Dogs and Cats.....

I actually do not think it is all the gameplan...The_Dud wrote:i'm not saying that our goal kicking isn't a big problem

Some yes...
I think it is mainly that the players lack the confidence and workrate to enact the gameplan as it is meant to be...,,
The coach needs to find a way to engage them...as they are not on Roo's bus at present.

so whats the solution? change 44 players, or change 1 gameplan.....saintsRrising wrote:I actually do not think it is all the gameplan...The_Dud wrote:i'm not saying that our goal kicking isn't a big problem

then devise a gamplan that doesn't revolve around precise kicking across the backline....saintsRrising wrote:Ii don't think changing the gameplan in itself would make a difference....The_Dud wrote:

Poor execution is poor execution....
Poor kicking is poor kicking...
use run, link up handballs, use long attacking kicks
give the team the BEST CHANCE to succeed

Whatever happened to midfielders having shots from 50?
seems that they just want to put it to a forward without having a crack themselves?
You look at all other teams who are playing well (and most that are playing average), they all have shots from on or outside 50.
You don't necessarily need a game buster, if you have 5 other players who can fire it in - in particular BJ, Dal, Goose, Gram, Lenny, et al.
By all means, you should pass it to the forwards, but not unless they are on a decent lead, or double teamed.
We use to do this, and we would post big scores, seems that we've slunk into a posession gameplan. Stupid.
