So what happened to that...Gardiner will only miss this week but should be back for next week.bigcarl wrote:it's got both our first choice ruckmen already and the flow on effect really limits us.Dan Warna wrote:sigh

all I can hope is it hits fringe players rather than the core.
kosi will have to ruck and it looks like it is back to kick-it-to-roo and fraser.
McQualter cannot play. I dont think Rixy will be replacing Sam and you hope he isnt replacing King for more than one week and then MG will return.spert wrote:I didn't realise Gibert was injured that bad -I must have missed something. Looks like Rixy has a spot for a few weeks, and Bakes, McQ and maybe Raph may get another look -and Birss?
Out Gilbert King
in Bakes either Rix or G. I think I'd go with G.
Only other change could be Birss for CJ but doubt it.

they tend to tell a few porkies when it comes to injuries. a hamill (2 weeks) should have read a hamill (career. his leg is stuffed and he'll never play again)Saintschampions08 wrote:So what happened to that...Gardiner will only miss this week but should be back for next week.bigcarl wrote:it's got both our first choice ruckmen already and the flow on effect really limits us.Dan Warna wrote:sigh

For the 500th time in the last 24 hours...Mini is now a rookie listed player and cannot play seniors without another player being put on the Long Term Injury list :-0spert wrote:I didn't realise Gibert was injured that bad -I must have missed something. And leave Kosi and Blake up against Brogan and Lade, both of whom beat Cox on Sunday?plugger66 wrote:McQualter cannot play. With either Blake or Rix in the ruck i dont think there's much difference. Both don't really have what it takes to contest Port's ruckmen - it 'd be a diificult task for Gards and Kingy!
I wouldn't put him in the team but just curious how Allen's looking, i read he kicked 6 goals this weekend.
IN: Baker, Gehrig (possibly Rix)
OUT: King, Gilbert (possibly CJ)

To be honest, i think unless Gardiner is available this week, we're going to get smashed in the ruck no matter who we play.
It'd be stupid putting in another player (who is going to get beaten), i'd much rather see another mid come in, with rotations going through the ruck just as much so we can compete.
We should be planning to get the best out of losing the ruck.

i think go back and have a look at the ruck stats, and i don't think we've been smashing anybody with the rucks.
the midfielders have been on top mainly.
when we have lost, or been blown out of the water, it hasn't been the rucks where we've fall down.

there's a good argument to give blake and goose a run in there because while both are conceding centimetres at least we know they can contribute around the ground.Saintschampions08 wrote:To be honest, i think unless Gardiner is available this week, we're going to get smashed in the ruck no matter who we play.

but that is the old gt/rendell argument that unless you have a good ruckman available you might as well go mobile and play your ruckman as an extra mid.

Round 1: 30-22 Hitouts.Dan Warna wrote:i think go back and have a look at the ruck stats, and i don't think we've been smashing anybody with the rucks.

Round 2: 41-18 Hitouts.
Round 3: 33-30 Hitouts.
Round 4: 33-32 Hitouts.
Round 5: 32-49 Hitouts.
So we've won all but one, no secret that it helps out our midfield significantly when your getting first option.
A key point in the Essendon game was when King went off, we got killed in the ruck, and Essendon started being a lot more competitive in the centre.
With the injuries Goose has had there is no way they will play in the ruck.bigcarl wrote:there's a good argument to give blake and goose a run in there because while both are conceding centimetres at least we know they can contribute around the ground.Saintschampions08 wrote:To be honest, i think unless Gardiner is available this week, we're going to get smashed in the ruck no matter who we play.

well that goes to show that even when we win the hitouts, we can still be beaten convincingly as the doggies and cats did to us.
and we get smashed against essendon, and frankly we outscored them pretty much 2:1 through out the game, and only their extraordinary accuracy kept them in it.
