I disagree. sp said something in far worse taste than Ricc did in this thread (although meant I'm sure as a joke) but Ricc gets jumped on by numerous others for what was admittedly a poor comment - but one which was nevertheless a throwaway line. Ricc gets that sort of thing all the time and it's hard to imagine why he cops it more than others - my theory is latent homophobia. The argument usually goes, "surely you, Ricc as a gay man, should be particularly more tolerant than other people". As if him being gay has any relevance to views on begging in the street, depression, racism or anything else.

Oh yeah, I'd be happy to see that list too when you get a chance to post it up Saints66au.

Fair dinkum St Fid. How about you put a sock in it. It's perfectly obvious the reason why you don't like Ricc. and it isn't because of the opinions he puts forward.

I'd like to hear a response from that. Not that I would know either way, havn't been present when those accusations were thrown when not deserved.
Is Ricc still a contributer on this site, or by going by his last post, has he left this place???

Personally I think that Ricc cops the combined wrath of this forum from time to time because he appears in print at times to be intolerant, opinionated and overly defensive. His sexual preferences are irrelevant to those attributes.
I have not met him so the only opinion I can form is from his posts.
Don't know if he would appreciate an introduction to me on the MW this week after this thread and his resultant departure from this forum.

Great post. Has a lot to do with it IMO.
"Thanks korters. If Richmond kick more goals they'll win"-R.Scumbag (nee Walls)
I have been very careful not to post on this topic before now lest I be seen as "defending my brother regardless of what he says" I personally enjoy the buskers and could care less if they busk at other games.
Ric does make some silly comments and as the person that spends the most time around him nobody knows that better than me but I do belive he is being attacked a little to harshly here. I dont agree with what he said but some of the names he has been called are just not on.
Once again not defending him but to attack anyone over essentially an opinion (in this case an illadvised one) is a little harsh.

You have NO FRIGGEN clue Richter NONE AT ALL
What right have you got to say that I don't like Ric???
Perfectly obvious
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
Look, I think the problem most have with Ric is that he feels he should be free to name call, put his opinion about other people out there....but when the same is returned to him he turns into the victim and everyone is against him.....
Funny thing about playing the victim game is that its a self fulfilling exercise....and not a very good way of attracting attention to one self.
Maybe he has copped it a bit through life...but the best way for him to fight back is to grow up a bit and be a man.

Hell the guy can put forward his views without expecting to be roundly abused for it. Ricc gave his opinion and made a cheap throwaway line about "losers in the street".
No one asked him what he meant by it or to clarify his point. Instead he's been called a deadbeat, loser, implication made that he is a liar and overreacts. Nowhere has he abused any other poster. Fair dinkum, wake up people.

Onya..and thanks for getting us back on track..looking forward to the story
Just got one thing to say about the "list". I mentioned it purely to illustrate that we arent a "beige" Forum where everyone agrees with each other. Whos on the list and who isnt is none of anyones business 'cept the people whove been warned
Kinda dissapointed its all got to this. Ricc knows me well enough that he can approach me on Friday night and we'll sort any issues out in 2 mins. Thats the great thing about getting to know people from this Forum.
To everyone else, enoughs enough OK?? Lets hear what our busker friends have to say and keep it on track after that ok???
I'll be back with the story before the night is out!!
awesome stuff and a huge welcome to Saintsational.
I've just had a look at your website and it's bloody obvious from the blurb about Harvs and your extended version of our club song that you're huge Saints fans.
Keep up the good work and you're an institution already on the foot bridge!
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
I went to a Collingwood game (Elim final v Dogs) at the G and they were dressed up in Collingwood gear playing "Good old Collingwood forever".
I nearly puked.
And vowed I would have nothing to do with them ever again.
Mercenaries, changing their colours each week.
But looks like they do have RW&B blood.
Will warm to them once again.
But please guys, can't you find some other way of making a living than wearing Collingwood gear ?
It's worse than prostitution.
Did you take the "morning after" pill when you finshed ?
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

I notice that you have NOT replied to my post????
Yep I called him a loser for calling artists/baskers losers...
Do you care to respond to my post???
I appreciate your post Hurricane but calling someone a loser in response to him calling another poster a loser is "fair game" IMO
I happen to like artist and realise what a tough gig it is and that you have to start busking to earn a living in order to pursue something that is their obvious passion even whilst going to Uni......
Ric's comment was unfounded and I responded by calling him the same name that he called them...
and now this Richter is suggesting that I am some kind of homophobic ???
Waiting for a reply Richter to you post...

Hey guys, not gonna get involved in all that has been said, just lay down the facts as I saw them and let you know a few things...
For starters: David Hedges, Member ID no. 260653 St Kilda 2008! Check it up if you dont beleive me!!
I am the sax player of the Footy Buskers and I will tell you all once and for all that we barrack for the SAINTS!!
Yes, we play at every game for every team, however, as has been mentioned, we only EVER play the Saints song at Saints games, on the way in or out, win or lose, because they are our team!!
Our philosophy at every other game is 2 teams enter, one team leaves, you hear the same song from us as you hear playing over the speaker system inside the ground. Except Saints games!!!
Anyway, as for Saturdays little incedent: The Police came and asked us to move on. They said that they were acting on instructions from Telstra Dome management. Even though we have been doing this for a number of years with absolutely no trouble at all (apart from a few collingwood fans, but what do you expect!!) some over zealous Telstra Dome official every now and then tries to move us on due to safety fears about so many people on the bridge and us getting in the way, despite the fact that I stand a foot above most of the crowd so they can see us and we are honking our brains out on loud instruments warning people that we are there! Not to mention that most people expect us to be there!!
Anyway, we know that we don't cause any trouble or get in the way so we questioned the police on their judgement. They replied that they were asked by Telsra Dome to move us on. Quite simply, we would not be moved!! They could not demonstrate to us any real reason to move and we know that Telstra Dome only asked the police because Telstra Dome has no authority over the bridge. The police soon realised that we were right, since the crowd was with us and they knew that they were causing more of a disturbance in trying to move us than if they had of left us alone, but they had to do their job so they took my ID and in the end we moved back about 3 metres and got on with what we do best (playing the Saints song funeral march style lately!) and the police left us alone.
One of the police came and spoke to us on his way out and said that we should get used to being moved on as apparently Telstra Dome is cracking down on us, but we heard that a few years ago too, let em try!! We wish that they would crack down on all the tin rattlers that do nothing for their money, at least we (try to) entertain!!
There is so much more detail that I could go into about all this but come and ask us at the Footy, but don't take too long, we should be playing!!
Couple more quick things: We hold the Police in the highest regard, there have been many times that we have witnessed incidents and the Police have always done their job well, they have looked after us in the past and we have absolutely no problem with them, however we will disagree with their decisions if they affect us negatively and for no good reason. Good on ya boys, and thank you!
Second: This friday night at Telstra Dome verses Essenscum we will be giving out a copy of our CD to any and every person who throws money in the case, and yes we will be playing ONLY the Saints song before and after the game, no matter the result!!
Thank you all for your comments and support and GO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I'd be happy to see that list too when you get a chance to post it up Saints66au.
Surely someone who has felt the sting of homophobia or any other form of intolerance might be able to exercise a little bit of empathy now and again?
Particularly toward others who might also feel the pinch of narrow mindedness?
Not your pal Ricc...
Yeah its his right to sneer at those he deems below him but what does that say about him?
I'm afraid in my book it says he deserves all he gets.
People are nice to people who are nice - it's as simple as that!
David..thanks for your great post. Certainly clears up a lot of arguments on here. We appreciate you "outing" yourselves as Saints fans !!
So..I owe SP an apology, It WAS Telstra Dome management after all!!!! No consultaion. no compromise, just jackboot tactics that they havent even got the guts to take on themselves. Disgraceful. Blame the crush caused by shocking design on two buskers. Laughable. Do you know if they harassed "Mr Classical Gas" as well.??
Keep fighting the fight boys..and if you need to use this site more to spread the word on how you are being treated..just say the word and we'll do what we can!!
Appreciate you taking the time to clarify the incident, keep up what is fast becoming a reassuring institution pre & post game. Glad the AFL is helping you out by not scheduling too many games together
May all the Saints supporters tip in for you if they have some spare coin.
P.S.: Please keep taking as much cash off the Collingwood supporters as you can!
This is taken from the footybuskers website where they talk about one of the songs on their cd called "Professional Buskers: ...
"This song is just a lot of fun, from start to finish! But don't think that that doesn't make it true, it all is! We couldn't tell you how many times people tell us to get a real job! The fact is that we both do have other 'real' (whatever that means?) jobs and that busking at the footy is also a job! When we hear 'you won't make any money playing that song' usually the next person along gives us money!!!
I suppose people just have to make themselves feel big at our expense, which is fine, we've always known that we are just sounding boards for people to let off steam at!! But the opening verse is true too, we don't have a boss, we are the boss, we don't have a time to punch in, we don't have to dress up, and we could have gone to Uni but, why? You don't need a degree for busking and we are more musically qualified already than half the nitwits who come out with their B.A's and the likes! "
If you take the time to look at their website www.footybuskers.com I think you will have much more appreciation of the talent of these blokes and also their passion for the St Kilda football club.
I understand your position St Fid and appreciate your stand also, "loser" was a word that Ric himself used and in this case cant defend it being said back to him imho.
I belive "waste of life" was a term used by a poster but I cant confirm as I cant find a post using that language, if that was said I dont belive that was fair.

apology accepted. My thoughts were based on intuition not fact/knowledge, whilst yours was based on fact, no probs. But all the more reason to HATE Collo eh, what a turd he and his management are?
Re: The South American guitar dude, I don't mind his soothing tones after a loss....sort of calms the nerves down a bit.

Cheers for coming on and clarifying Dave! I too will eat humble pie and say that I didn't really think you were Saints fans. Good on you and all the best for Friday and the rest of the season.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
I work with one of tha footy buskers and can guarantee that they are both payed up Saints members. Who cares if they play at other games they are professional buskers thats there job. If any of you have taken the time to buy one of there cds they have (legally) produced you would find out that they are actually very talented. Apparently the coppers didnt want to move them on they said they enjoyed there stuff, it is purely the Telstra Dome that was having a winge!!!! As they always bloody do, just because theyre not making a quid out of . Like they need it anyway.
