Dal in Vic squad

Post: # 549112Post SENsei »

Sorry to say this, but how is Dal in the squad? His form this season so far has been pretty average.

He needs a kick up the bum

but gets a another mirror put in front of him!!

would have been a rocket if left out of squad of 40

On current form you would think he would miss final team.

Because he's a star that's played two average games, one of which was against the best tagger in the comp.

He could easily earn 450-500k at another club and is recognised as a serious talent. It's a pity he doesn't get the same respect from his own supports at times.

Sorry, didn't see other thread.

suss, in reply to you, I think Dal 'could' be a great player. At the moment, he's playing like he's an 'average to good player' only.

He needs to take some steps forward. Being recognised as a 'serious talent' at 24 and over 100 games doesn't cut it anymore.

He's not there yet. Nothing to do with my respect for him. More to do with fulfilling his own destiny.

Dal Santo would thrive in a team where other midfielders do the hard work to make him look good.

ON his own, he's just an average player unless there is some epic change in his attitude towards playing footy.

we should give him a run forward for a while where he can use his creativity hopefully to put some goals on the board for st kilda.

Good on you mate. Dal is a star and a great player and he deserves your support and defence far more than all of that which is provided to a certain coach on this forum. (This being a weird sort of place where you can pour as much abuse as you like on certain players, but you'll have your head bitten off if you so much as question the ability of our coach.)

He is a good player to watch, so the media get behind him. He really isn't the footballer that most make him out to be, certainly not All-Star game material on current form.

I'd imagine that the Vic vs All Stars game is one that won't be typified by tagging performances - or even defense... in an environment like that Dal will thrive.

He already plays for a Victorian team. In a National comp, I can't see the need for State of Origin footy. Waste of time.

14 teams playing each other twice... I'd like to see that. Oh, and some big men flying... I'd like to see that too.

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

In my view this game is about picking the players with the most class. It's a celebration of 150 years of the game.

Do you think that Dal is not on the top 40 most skillful players from Victoria?

I grant you that this is not the criteria that is likely being used by the selectors. If it were the likes of Akermanis would have been selected - I think he should have been.

He is in the squad.

He won't be in the final line up.

.
with all due respect, he has played one average game and three sub-par games. Maybe he's carrying an injury, I thought he looked like he was having a dip last week. But he was taken down by Ling.
He is not the only one struggling for form.

dal could just be the biggest unmerited scapegoat in the history of our club.

when the going is good hes a hero, when were struggling its apparently his fault. he hasnt been great, but hes not alone.

I was looing at his stats for this season:

Averaging one goal a game this year, 11 kicks, 8 handballs (19.5 disposals, actually), 3 tackles. Not great stats for a midfielder.

His highest disposal count this year was 21 against Carlton. Highest kicks - 15, against Sydney. Highest handballs - 11, vs. Geelong. Tackles -7, vs. Geelong.

I don't mean to use this to knock him, I just wanted to provide facts about his performance this year.

Yes definitely not great stats, and alot of them are cheap ones off half back. Defensively he is still terrible, needs to improve big time

He cops all the flack because we all know what he is capable of and he appears to be lazy or could not care or both.
