Was in Sale in 61-62 when my grandfather let me know that following the Saints (like him) with Alan Morrow and Bill Stephenson would be a good thing!
Saw many great years and a lot of bad ones but what a ride.

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Seems to be a bit of a McKinnon High thread here, so Ill throw in that my daughter went there too and my Saints-fan next door neighbour was a teacher there
Spent my formative young Saints years living in Mornington, and got to go to maybe 1-2 games a year...but remember walking down Gwenda Ave to the ground (after parking at the primary school across the road) being insanely jealous of the people who lived there or in Linton St lol

THE BUBBLE HAS BURST
2011 player sponsor
I am 59 and a grandmother. I have barracked for the Saints as long as I can remember.
I met my husband when I was 15, and he barracked for New Norfolk in Tasmania (played football at school with Peter Hudson) and he started me barracking for the Saints as they also wore red, black and white. I stuck with the Saints and he now barracks for Hawthorn because of Peter Hudson.

Most people achieved their greatest success one step beyond what looked like their greatest failure.

37 for me. I've only had 10yrs with the Saints since moving down from Brisbane and being spoon-fed League (which bores me to tears at times). I saw a team with a very colourful and passionate group of supporters go down to the Crows in the 97 GF. I fell for the Saints from then on (don't ask me why ), and if I'm correct Harvs is the only one left from that last GF appearance?? Sad to see the likes of the Lowes, Burkes and Jones' etc move on. I tihnk I survive on sheer frustration at times 8)
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Actually I think I prefer not to know. I like the mysterious little hints of age, gender, political leanings, body type, etc coming out through the opinions and conversations.
But since we're telling all ....
I'm 53
My first game was the '65 grand final -- my dad took me down to Melbourne (from Canberra) on the Southern Aurora, to see the first saints GF in his lifetime.
Couldn't believe Essendon didn't let us win.
The whole family drove down the Hume Highway to see the '66 win.
Boy am I grateful.
I've lived in St Kilda since 1983.

27 and clinging to it, until May 9 when another anniversary of my birth passes.
My dad bought me a st kilda scarve and jumper before I was born, however with him being in the army and us being based interstate I didn't see the saints in the flesh till we played the bears at the gabba in 91.
This was also the only time I saw Plugger in the red, black and white because the next time they came to town in 94 he was a late withdrawal.
I Have been making up for lost time though, since moving south in 1995.

and they say I have too much time on my handscowboy18 wrote:Gee. the lost generation scarred by the childhood experiences of the 80s really shines through there.
Looking at the age structure and the gender bias we should look for some sponsorship from the erectile dysfunction folk.
Nice graph though cowboy wheres the gender one
there was a huge thread a couple of years ago with all this info-
and then there was the interesting one about what we 'assume' other posters look like and their ages- - bit like expecting the poster to look like their avatar ;

I hope you have longevity in the family in that case.ace wrote:I was there when the Doc, wearing a Collingwood (Des Tuddenham's) jumper, lifted the cup.
I want to see someone wearing a St Kilda jumper lift the cup before I die.
PS I was there in '66, only had a standing room ticket which would have been a bit useless but snuck in to sit with Dad.
