Moved to Melbourne from Brisbane at the start of the 1967 season.Started Grade 2 at Bentleigh East and started to follow the Saints.
My hero was "Doc" and used to run out onto Moorabin at the begining of the games in those days. I even appeared on the "Kevin Dennis Footy Show" cause I was a cute 7 year old !
By 1969 we were transfered to Sydney.I have only ever barracked for the Saints, never "switched" to Sydney and never "switched " to Brisbane
since moving here in 1988.
I will be 49 this year and love the Saints as much now as I did when a
skinny little kid from Brisbane in 1967.This year like every year since 1967 I will wish for a Premiership when I have my birthday in November.

P.S My avatar is from a poster I won on the Kevin Dennis Footy Show in 1968!

We really are a lot of desperate old hangers on aren't we. I think our group between 40 and 50 really appreciate what we are seeing right now. I remember through the 80's standing at Moorabbin thinking it was good if we got to within 10 goals - but when we won - we enjoyed those wins.
This year 2 and 2 - All of us should enjoy every win. All of us should hate every loss - its why I keep coming back

I'm 47 and went to Bentleigh West Primary.
Remember Mum listening to and celebrating the 66 G/F when I was 5!!
My 3 siblings & I initially walked to Moorabbin to see the last quarters for free and eventually got to see the whole game of course.
Have followed the saints through thick & thin ever since.

42 and have been an active fan since i was 5 years old going to Morrabbin with my father, uncles and friends. Those great years in the early 70s, the rare wins in the mid 70s, the heartbreak of 78 and the disaster of the whole 80s have made our bursts of reasonable success in the early then late 90s and now recently in 2004/5/6 much more enjoyable. But all I have ever wanted is a Saints premiership. Having said that I would never trade the memories of this 37 year journey for anything ... but I do want a premiership or two soon to add to those.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

I was.... ten years before you unfortunately.Hawkesbury Saint wrote:46 back in Feb.
Anyone else from Cheltenham originally? Specifically Cheltenham East Primary - we were a loyal Saints mob there in the early 70s!
Big Saints following there as the club had a couple of houses just down the road where they placed their stars. The Doc and Verdun Howell lived there when I was at Chelt East.
I am 44, can only say that for another week as I turn 45 next week.
I moved to Moorabbin when I was 6 and started school at Moorabbin West primary, where everyone barracked for Saints, so i was quickly converted.
We used to walk to Moorabbin and sneak in to watch the last half and have great memories of that.
And like everyone on here keep hoping each year that this will be the year I see a Premiership Win by my beloved Saints, havent completely given up hope for this year........yet
