Nick Dal Santo - 2nd Week in a row
Dal is a great footballer has all the skills (looks [for the girls]) but he has 2 weeks in a row displayed a lack of accountability and does not do enough when he hasnt got the ball. I would have thought with all the media scrutiny this last week and the efforts put in by the whole team he would have put in a better performance.
Probably not our worst player this week but for someone with his abilites he has been dissappointing.
Apologies to all Dal lovers but Im just stating what i saw today.

I agree.
Perhaps he needs to be dropped for a week to get his head right.
If he is fit, he's playing at best only at 25% of his ability.
Simply nowhere near good enough.
But typical of Lyon, he'll make only 2 changes for Essendon - Schneider and Gardy in for X and Harvs (both injured/half stuffed!)

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Was just thinking to myself that Dal and Cj are an interesting comparison
Dal has all the God-given skills in the world. Silky smooth, awesome disposal but the last 2 weeks has been content to play unaccountable lazy football IMHO
CJ..harrasses, chases, tackles, gets where the ball is...but his finishing lets him down so badly.
Both have been criticised on here of late, but both imho can be great contributors if their strengths are used properly
CJ is a very quick player in probably one of the slowest teams in the comp at present. We need his raw leg speed badly and Ill be filthy if he's dropped next week against the zippy Bombers. Dal is, along with BJ, the best kick in a team that is sadly lacking in foot skills atm.
Dal...needs Roo or Lenny to have a blunt chat to him and shake him out of his comfort zone. CJ...play to his strengths. He should never be the bloke relied on to hit a target inside 50 any more than RObert Harvey should be having to beat opponents and break lines with raw pace

Agree totally with this post. Still, not living up to his "reputation", which I never agreed with in the first place - not even close to being an elite midfielder.ThomasR wrote:I'm with the Dud. Dal was much better this week and his 3rd quarter in particular he really started busting a gut and running through packs. As I said in another thread, the fact Ling had overshadowed him today, simply shows where he is at as top-line AFL player. He is several rungs below the elite players of the game and that's the reality of Dal Santo's player status. Taking into consideration the natural talent he showed 4 years ago however, the expectations we and many in the media had of him, was that he would end up as one of the comp's elite performers. He has not lived up to that and it's doubtful he ever will. Yes, he tried today but he is not hard enough nor damaging enough at the level of the contested ball and neither damaging on a scoreboard level.ThomasR wrote:I'm with the Dud. i think Ling has done the same to most opponents, including the likes of Judd and KerrSuperSaint wrote:As I said in another thread, the fact Ling had overshadowed him today, simply shows where he is at as top-line AFL player. name the last opponent to beat Ling
them putting their number 1 tagger on Dal also says a bit.....

Yeah, an enema for Dal is fine, but if there's a better kid than Dal playing for the scorps, then we've all missed it.saintspremiers wrote:OK, perhaps an enema then.satchmo wrote:You couldn't drop him for the bombers game. That would be insane.
He needs something to get the shyte out of system!
Are we doing the "cutting off the nose to spite the face " thing ???
*Allegedly.

To be known forever as the Devenport Daniels Dilemma...the exact same anguish I suffered with Craig Devonport and Jason Daniels, however Dal has a lot more in him than Craig did.saint66au wrote:Was just thinking to myself that Dal and Cj are an interesting comparison

Tried hard this arvo did Dal but unfortunately every time he led Ling to a pack, Ling came away with it. Ling played a great game offensively and defensively, way too good today for Dal.
Dal was well beaten by Ling today but it look like he made a real effort to be harder at the ball. It was definately an improvement on last week but still needs to work much harder when he doesn't have the ball and do much more. His accountabilty is still a problem and he needs to improve but calls for him to be dropped are wrong and its almost irrelevant as there is about a 0.1% chance of him being dropped.

Was a bit better today.
But I'm still dirty on some of his half-hearted chases against the Dogs.
Lacks passion and intensity.

u people are fools
he gets "only" 18 disposals against the best tagger in the league, and you guys bag him (note how they tagged Dal, and not the others )
also, the "soft front runner" who put in a "weak effort" had 7 tackles this week, which was the most of ANYONE ON THE GROUND
again, fools

you know, its hard to argue with an idiot
i'm not talking about last week, i'm talking about this week
anyone who has half a clue that was watching the game could see Dal played well, without being brilliant. Saying he was no good, didn't give a crap, and didn't go in hard shows that you are a moron, who has no idea
i then bring in FACTS that SHOW he put in, and apparently they don't fit your reality, so you continue to bag him for a reason that has already been shot down.....
