Here's one that was worse for a start...Gehrig.
Raph was ordinary tonight no doubt about it, but so was Dal, X, Joey, Roo, Gehrig, Gilbert, Fiora, L Fisher, Blake, and probably a few others.

I am more perplexed that a post was started with the subject of "Raph did not cost us the game" nobody said he did - but if he played a s*** game, then there's no shame in saying that he played a s*** game. We shouldn't be ashamed about being honest around here.
he may be the first dropped but he was not the worst....
I hate it when people on here make outlandish statements, back track and try and justify them with another comment.
Yes Raph may well be dropped, will he be the first...does it matter...who knows... on that effort 10 should get dropped with the G train first up
Making mistakes is one thing, not getting involved is far worse IMO.
Raph Clarke did not lose us this game

Raph has to go.
His first kick in AFL was a set shot from 20m straight in front against Collingwood.
He kicked into the man on the mark.
Don't think his confidence has ever recovered.
I don't think he believes in himself.
Always panics.
Never takes the first option.
Always runs himself into trouble.
Indecisive.
Poor decision making.
Got to go.

Our midfielders only seem to know how to long bomb which might work when you have plugger down there in his prime! Our delivery was awful, so G didnt have much hope.
Raph to me was very, very average tonight. Needs a spell.

Nope, just trying to work out what it is You keep saying Raph was our worst TONIGHT and then backing it up with "over the last few weeks" and "will be the first to get dropped".savatage wrote:Have you got some sort of issue with me having an opinion Maverick?maverick wrote:

I just can't believe anyone on here would think that someone played worse than G tonight thats all, I'm just trying to work out if that's what you are saying.
Are you saying Raph played worse than G on the night?
I do believe Raph was our worst TONIGHT, do I have to keep repeating it for you? The next part is what it is, agreeing that others were s*** too but that Raph has been consistently poor.maverick wrote:

Leigh Fisher? Surely he was worse tonight.savatage wrote:I do believe Raph was our worst TONIGHT, do I have to keep repeating it for you?maverick wrote:

Yeah he wasn't great either that's for sure! He did stuff his hammy at a point early in the game though.plugger66 wrote:Leigh Fisher? Surely he was worse tonight.savatage wrote:I do believe Raph was our worst TONIGHT, do I have to keep repeating it for you?maverick wrote:

Getting involved & f****** things up monumentally doesn't make Raph any better.maverick wrote:Obviously not, getting involved is far worse than standing around apparentlyplugger66 wrote:Leigh Fisher? OK so take me though it, here's what I remembersavatage wrote:Getting involved & f****** things up monumentally doesn't make Raph any better.maverick wrote:Obviously not, getting involved is far worse than standing around apparentlyplugger66 wrote:Leigh Fisher? He kicks long to Kosi in the 1st qtr - goal - good
He punches the ball OOB in a pack - good
Hahn beats him one on one for a goal - terrible
Acker catches him spectating on the boundary after a contest - bad
A poor handballing decision to S Fisher - bad.
This to me is better than having someone run round not getting the ball, with their opponent setting up countless forward thrusts, one after the other.
Both should be dropped, but the not getting involved is worse, its SH!TS ME NO END

Agreed good wrap. when i watched raph bomb it inside 50 to Kosi i thought here we go he might be in for a good game tonight turned out he was in for a average game but he wasn't our worst that's for sure and yes he will be droppedmaverick wrote:OK so take mw though it, here's what I remembersavatage wrote:Getting involved & f****** things up monumentally doesn't make Raph any better.maverick wrote:Obviously not, getting involved is far worse than standing around apparentlyplugger66 wrote:Leigh Fisher? I cannot cop that Raph was our worst tonight...that itself is a joke and pure bias looking for an easy answer as to why we were shite.
Our midfield is as slow as treacle and was smashed accordingly. Raph did not line up in the midfield.
Our forwards were woeful, the ball rebounds out of there with no pressure whatsoever. Raph did not line up in the forward line.
Our demise rests fairly and squarely with our mids, they got smashed in the square, did not help our defenders and after quarter time failed to apply pressure on the ball coming from our forward line.
We only have one quick midfielder and that's Joey, sadly we look slower than Freo's mids and I think they are embarrassing. This is a legacy from trying to copy the successful Lions dynasty, the game evolved, we didn't. The Lions have even evolved.
Why did we attack the ball carrier in the first quarter and zone off after that? Were we unfit or simply succumed to pace? I'm shattered. I hope we use next week to learn how to attack the ball carrier for 4 quarters. If G gets dominated by Scarlett as he 's prone to, we'll drop our heads, chase tail, look soft, slow and struggle to recover for season 2008. Time to draw that line...don't until after next week!!!

Raph Clarke is a pathetic excuse for a footballer he gave away about 5 goals and was absolutely pathetic... I have never seen a player sooo mediocre continually playing in a good team like him... the hard facts are he is not and never will be a premiership player same as Blake and Fiora... PATHETIC!

There might be reasons Raph is dropped, but this sort of stuff makes Richmond supporters appear tame.
Here at St Kilda we have to have heroes who can do no wrong and footballers trying to make their way villified every step of the way.
It was BJ in 2005/06 and now Raph in 2007/08.
Raph makes mistakes but no footballer at St Kilda deserves this.

What annoys me most about a post like this is that if one or all of these players were to play in a Saints flag you would be the greatest hanger on, the loudest back slapper of them all.mightysainters wrote:Raph Clarke is a pathetic excuse for a footballer he gave away about 5 goals and was absolutely pathetic... A) This 'good team' (?) got a lesson in running and clearances. Not Raph's areas. Raph did not lose us this game.
B) '5 goals'??? Get a grip, tell me which ones and I'll concede, but I'm tipping, like this rant of yours, you'll be pulling them from your butt.
He may very well be dropped at some stage (form or balance), possibly this week even, I hope not because we'll need someone with his courage running back into the path of Mooney, Hawkins or Johnson with his spoiling ability.
PATHETIC is a great description of a lot of things, including some people's idea of support.

No Saints player is pathetic.
All have different strengths and weaknesses.....and we can argue the toss about who we believe should be in the team on any given week.
But none deserve to be labled such.
The skills of AFL players have never been greater...and all who make it are compared to most are by any definition good footballers.

i'm no fan of Raph, by a long way, and he did some good stuff and he also did the stuff we see him do every week
But last night i think the team was pathetic as a whole, i didn't leave thinking how bad certain players were, i left thinking how bad the whole team played, and how bad the game plan was
the first quarter showed the team can do it with the right gameplan, its not rocket science
tho i will say Raph can't continue as a key backman, as he gets slaughtered in nearly every one on one contest, and can't tackle to save his life

You really get some absolutely stupid comments on this site.
R. Clarke was pushed aside by Minson.
R. Clarke was on Minson and Hudson when Footscray played us at our own (media played) game of pushing talls forward.
R. Clarke gave away 10cm and 20kg in the match up the coaching staff set for him.
In regards the mark, where the spoil rebounded for an opposition goal, he had his left arm chopped from the contest.
The defence was under the pump because there was absolutely no pressure on the Footscray players running free from defence - so disposals could be held until a lead was made and then the disposal was accurate, giving defenders no chance.
What about Max's kick out on the full?
No mention of that, or a raft of other errors by others.

What annoyed me most concerning Raph in this game, was when he was beaten by Hahn and Hahn goaled, Robert Murphy was in his face letting him know. NO player was there to support him, NO player got in there and pushed Murphy away and NO teammate came in and encouraged him afterwards. That was in the 2nd quarter when we were still in front and when I first thought we were in real trouble. The Dogs were coming back, but we were not going to resist them. To that stage Raph was playing OK.
