Armo probably needs another year of experience, but no reason why he couldn't slot into the seniors at some stage. It's one thing having talent, but there's that extra thing of desire, desperation and work rate which some players have and I reckon Armo and Jones have that and I'm happy to tolerate some deficiencies in their skill level when I see them making contests, laying big tackles and having a go for the hard ball -the type of stuff you need in premiership teams.
talk coming out of the scorps was that armo got a big bum wrap after the practice game a couple of weeks ago. Got told that with the effort he put in he wont be in a saints jumper for a long time.
Needs to put in and get to more contests and make an impact on games. Sunday was a good start but is still behind the likes of birss and CJ.

Aaah, pick 9.
The cursed pick in all drafts.
We were dead keen on Ben Reid, but the Magpies knew we were after him and got him first.
Armitage is tough and hard at the man, but needs the other type of mental toughness, the one exemplified by Harvey and Hayes - the tougness of pushing yourself to the next contest when you're sucking in big breaths.
Armitage looks weak in the legs at the moment (I don't mean he's got skinny legs), and he'll need a power of work to get that strong running into his game.
The opportunity is there for him, but he just needs to work, work, work.

He is still learning.....including the greater effort required.
With Banger retiring at the end of this year...that opens up a midfield slot.

i didnt say Armo would be the next Harvey ... we will go our entire lives and may never see anyone a good as Harvey but when Bangers retires his spot in the starting 22 will become vacant i feel Armo will get that spot ...in all honesty Mini doesnt deserve to be on the main list hence him being a rookie so i cant ever see him being in our best 22 ill expect him to be delisted at years end .RBnW wrote:does anyone think that Mini who we delisted last year and we took back as a rookie or Armo, who has only a left foot and cant run yet, but may get better... could seriously take over from Harvs, are we saying that because Mini looks like Harvs he could take over from Harvs.... I saw Harvs on Saturday night at age 36 play in the AFL and I saw Mini and Armo who collectivley are around 36 years old play on Sunday in the VFL.......and lets hope Harvs plays on for a while....cause neither of them will be taking Harvs spot for a long time if ever....saint edward wrote:spert wrote:Armo hits the packs a lot harder than Mini and generally works harder.
Thats what i thought.
The only thing that mini has over armo is expierience.
Put it like this can you see Mini or Armo winning a Brownlow or two...
Can you see Mini or Armo playing until they are 26, never even think of 36 years of age.....having said all of that it is hard to judge a player against the greatness of Harvs our champion.....but niether of thes two have the ability to run like Harvs....they are different and more inside players, who are competing with Bally, Lennie, Leigh Fisher not Harvs...

eddy will work his way in front of both those players eventually...,.,.saint edward wrote:st_Trav_ofWA wrote:will more then likely get more game time as Harveys decreases to eventually take his spot in the team when he retires
That's exactly what i thought either him or mini getting harveys spot i think.
Last season i used to get mini and harvey mixed up so much.
but, having seen what armo can do i think he is a better player than mini.
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

You really think so? His disposal is very shakey. I would think this can be improved but to what extent?stinger wrote:eddy will work his way in front of both those players eventually...,.,.saint edward wrote:st_Trav_ofWA wrote:will more then likely get more game time as Harveys decreases to eventually take his spot in the team when he retires

It has already improved a fair bit since last year, and once he gets some more senior footy experience his decision-making will improve as well. At 19 he's still going to improve greatly. I think Eddy has a very good chance of being a regular player for us by 2010.savatage wrote:You really think so? His disposal is very shakey. I would think this can be improved but to what extent?
Of course it has. He wouldn't still be on the rookie list if this part of his game wasn't improving. That & his leg-speed are the two reasons he is still on the rookie list. If he became a lot cleaner then he would be a chance - we'll have to wait and see.mad saint guy wrote:It has already improved a fair bit since last yearsavatage wrote:You really think so?
