Still waiting for my membership pack....

From Geelong:

With the 2008 season yet to begin, the Geelong Cats have already signed up 31,400 members, 6000 up on the same time last year.

The new figure is only slightly off the Cats’ greatest ever membership figure of 32,290 in 2006.

The last two weeks has seen the Cats membership department run off their feet, following on from exciting performances for the Cats in the pre-season.

Geelong Cats Chief Operating Officer, Stuart Fox, has likened the spike in memberships to a revolution of sorts for the club.

“The feeling around the club is that it is our time to make a point and we can really mix it with the membership powerhouses in the AFL.â€

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Doesn't matter what the subject is, you always seem to project the negative - I think we will break the membership record this year and what's more, I will continue to promote it as well, not find the negative as you will do.

Get with it mate.
Dont read it if you do not like it. Just pointing out facts. Im positive you do not understand.

The Membership number as of yesterday, 19th, is 27,071 and the traffic at Linton Street busy with people signing up.

You can add one more number to that at least. I've signed up, but I haven't received it yet. Might get it on Tuesday, I hope cos I have next Saturday night off and want to see the Carlton game so badly.

you will still be able to get in oneEyedsainter77

if it hasn't arrived just contact the club or got to one of the Club tents before the game and they will look you up

we are lagging against other clubs- Hawks 30,000+ North are around our figures 27,000+ Bombers 36,000+, Pies - who knows they don't publish easily, Blues - I thought I heard around 30,000,
which basicly leaves us only a head of Tigers- 26.000+, Bulldogs- around the same or less and Demons- only aorund 20,000

But some on here said they weren't signing till round one- will that mean we can hope for an influx over the next couple of weeks?

Supporters need to remember that we have 5 of first 6 games at the Dome and Four of those are Home games-
If you haven't signed do it soon- BUt be prepared to wait.

I wonder just how much money our NAB CUP WIN has added to the clubs coffers this year - the win is a few hundred thousand and the extra memberships for those 'wait-and-see' supporters must be a few hundred thousand too.

Well done RL for realising that we are not blessed with an over abundance of dollars by giving it a shot and maintaining your integrity by using the matches to prepare for the season proper as well.

I'm onboard as a member at last...entering my 16th season as a Saints fan but better late than never I suppose. My stuff arrived on Thursday, all very impressive looking. Now I've just got to remember what I need to prove that I am an eligable concession holder.

I'm sure there will be a correlation on membership figures and pre-season cup performances. If anyone has membership figures over the last 10 years, I think it could show that pre-season form = memberships.

Membership sales soar
1:38 PM Mon 24 March, 2008

ALMOST half a million Australians signed up for AFL club memberships before the start of the 2008 AFL Toyota premiership season, according to figures released by the league on Monday.

Before the first round, 496,759 people had purchased memberships of one of the 16 AFL clubs, some 37,000 more than at the same time in 2007. The figure doesn't take in any of the memberships sold across the first weekend of games.

The final total for all club memberships in 2007 was 532,697.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.....

Victorian clubs are leading the surge in membership sales growth, with Hawthorn (up 8500), North Melbourne (up 7500), Carlton (up 6500), Geelong (up 6000), Collingwood (up 4000) and Essendon (up 3500) all well ahead of their figures at the start of last season. Only Melbourne (down 500) and Western Bulldogs (down 1000) were slightly behind before the season's opening bounce.

Of the non-Melbourne sides, Adelaide is comfortably ahead of all clubs with more than 47,332 members to date, with Brisbane up 2000 members from the same time last year. Fremantle is down slightly after a massive increase in 2007.

so only about 500 signed up on Sat night eh??? not much....the "win" against Sydney won't inspire a huge rush against Carlton.

I think the only way we'll crack 35K is to win the first 5 games of the season - and then the good old bandwagon will get back on board.

Pretty sure the Geelong game is the most important in terms of membership.

I hear what you say, but find it incredibly sad that so many fair-weather supporters hang their hat on that sort of result.

Exactly!! Its more pathetic than sad I d say. What are they thinking. You should be on board come hell or high water. Its about supporting your team.

With direct debit on a monthly basis available, there is no excuse.! Jesus, $12 a friggin month.

I get so frustrated about it when I think about it, I tend to think we are better off without em. Nearly.

Blame it on one flag in over a hundred years - not a good strike rate!

We are bloody lucky to still exist is the reality unfortunately.

Takes a long time to rewrite a long and very unsuccessful history against cheating scumbag teams like Carlscum that bought 16 flags, and too many supporters along the way also!
