Why I want James Gwilt to win the Best & Fairest 2008

Post: # 532628Post farquhar »

I want James Gwilt to win the 2008 Best & Fairest because if he did so then that would mean that one of our lesser-lights would have had an incredible season. And if a lesser-light could have an amazing season and go from the last man picked to the best player then the impact on the rest of the team could be enough to land that flag.

Why? If an unknown could have a bigger season than Reiwoldt, Hayes, Ball or Kosi, then we would have unearthed another gun player. If Reiwoldt wins his fifth B&F, then it doesn't tell us anything new, we already know he is a brilliant player. This team needs more brilliant players on deck for a full season to win that flag.

Then again, he could win it because every else has done hamstrings and we need to investigate new training and conditioning methods, again.

If Gwilt wins our B&F it means the bird flu went through the remaining list...I don't want James Gwilt to win our B&F

I want Dal Santo to win it. I beleive who ever wins our B and F this year will have on hell of a year. We as a team are primed for a good year, and so are many individuals like Ball, Kosi, Schneider, Xman etc. Who ever takes home the Best n Fairest this year would have had one great year.

If Gwilt wins our B&F then it means we will probably finish below the Boos, who will have to rely on Ackland and Kreuzer as their ruck division. Fair dinkum if they rely on that then .... well....

That's the comparison I draw...

Was gonna quote ruck stats but there are none for the Blues No. 1 ruck stocks......

Here Here farquhar - It would be great for a fringe player to step up to that sort of level. He may even remain a tad under the Radar without the 'fro too.
Regarding Pink Floyd. Has anyone heard about the "Pink Floyd Curse"? I know a tour would be the Bee's Knees, but I'm sure their album releases coinside with stock market crashes... Perhaps an album is secretly being recorded...

I'm all for Gwilty winning a Trevor Barker, whether list is depleted or full. It would sure put alot of people in their places if he did. But at the end of the day, I really do not think it is going to happen.

I certainly hope he does NOT, because that will mean all our good players will have had horrible seasons and we'll likley be 14th-16th.

Remember 2000 - I loved Thommo, but, really, do you want a repeat of that season, because thats what ity will take for Gwilt to win the B&F.

He's on wafer thin ice this year as it is.

If Gwilt wins the B&F, then that means that we are not relying on the same few big names to carry the team all year..that's been our big problem, the big gap to our second rung players.

It would be good if a player on our second rung won the B&F, but Gwilt is on about the 5th rung.

A second rung player I would think would be one of the Clarkes, Montagna maybe Fiora, Birss, players like that.

Sadly, they are not. They did, however, breifly reunite for Live 8 but they have no performed since as the Rogers, Gilmour, Mason, Wright setup.

It would be great for Gwilt to step up like that but it just ain't gonna happen.
