According to our TV guide in The Courier Mail they are showing the game Brisbane Lions v WCE on free to air as well as Fox/Austar, BUT they are also showing the Saints v Sydney on Fox/Austar on 518 (pay per view) for free as they usually do with Friday night games.
You may want to check it out in WA. However I have found that ringing Austar is not much good as they usually do not make sense of what I am trying to find out when it comes to AFL matches. They should have a broadcast guide on the main AFL page sometime this week. If it is like the NAB cup games that will tell you.
I am just glad that some-one seems to have listened to those of us who whinged about the games being shown on both Austar and free to air at the same time here in Queensland.
At least I might not miss some of the live Saints games this year, as I had to last year.

it just gets worse

no replay at all on fta

replay on fox at fn 6.30 sunday morn

dimwit, monkey boy & the tv networks may you all rot in hell...its all right to pamper to the darling states syd bris whilst us real footy states are treated like chyt

simple solution ...put it on pay per view channel, charge something like 20 bucks & give us a bloody choice...not rocket science

Just going through the fixture this happens 8 times this year :(

Some are Sunday games so hopefully they will be shown as a double header with the Eagles/Freo game that clashes.

I'm going off the Sunday Times fixture which has highlighted all the Foxtel games.

Some of the guides do not advertise the AFL games shown on Foxtel/Austar that are on the pay per view channel (but we view for free) here in Queensland. You need to wait until the broadcast guide is put up on the AFL site. That is how I found out about the NAB cup games.

Yeah I get that 518 thing too. You guys in WA should see if you get it. Keep in mind it wasn't advertised till the night before or something, but have a look at 518 closer to the time cause they have been doing that here too.

In situations like these, one game ie the Saints game should be shown on Fox when there is a clash with a local team. For the life of me I can't understand how Channel 10 can show Fox Footy and not switch the FTA coverage to Fox. Are the WCE and Freo fans too precious to fork out a few bucks for a subscription? The idea was to share coverage not bloody monopolise it.

Yeah that would be the logical thing to do.

If ten can show the Fox game then they should switch the game that are supposed to show to Fox.

ok let me fill you in on this one as i have had many a yelling contest with the perth TV stations about this issue . the reason i got from channel 10 is that due to the majority of the perth population prefering to see the local team the local network pays fox a commission to broadcast their game on FTA (its all part of the shitty agreement 7 and ten signed stating every westcoast/freo game will be shown on FTA ) Fox in return have the option to show the schedualed FTA game but chose not ti as they dont want to pay for the rights to show the channle 10 game (basically in the past nine and fox worked together to cater for the footy fans in genral where as now channle 10/ 7 only care about the ratings anf fox are just being stubborn on the matter by not "buying" the FTA game - so we lose out)

channel 7 were the worst sujesting that i support the eagles or dockers or maybe move to melb if i would like to see my team play

we will not see our team play on tv in perth until round 3 on friday night footy . it sucks and theres nothing we can do about it and to add salt to the wound good luck trying to find a radio station in perth that wont be broadcasting the local game

good work trav..makes a mockery of dimwits famous statment when the tv rights deal was announced

every game WILL BE televised live or as close to live as possible ...dimwit forgot to add the fine print

unless you live in s.a or w.a where as close to live means

1/...2 to 3 hr delay
2/...12 hr delay
3/...no replay at all(as happens a couple of times this yr)

as for the radio broadcast go over to wom where the peanut has listed every radio station around the country...pick up the live broadcast through the internet

once again the peanut has provided a service to us interstate saints supporters who dont ask for to much..just the opportunity to watch or listen to our game of footy

a service maybe the club should be looking to provide...after all a third of our membership & supporters are based interstate
then again i dont think they really care..stuck in suburburn melb syndrone

maybe someone should tell em its a national comp before we end up being an interstate club ourselves

I reckon you should tell them to support a real team and not one that's been fabricated. Useless bunch of arseholes!

i also enquired about the QLD NSW payperveiw option with the local Foxtel consultant (my thinking if its gunna cost like $60 to see the game then we could just ask for a $5 cover carge for those games at the civic and we would easily make up the $$ to pay for it if its the only showing in perth ......) sadly this is not available to the "AFL" states  for crying out loud if we are an "AFL" state why the F**K cant we get coverage for our game ???

seriously it did my head in trying to find a way to watch the games we clash with the local trash and the disbelif that the people who i spoke to couldnt understand why i was becoming irate !!!

I feel your pain. The same thing happened in Queensland last year, but for some reason, probably because of too many complaints (I myself wrote to the AFL, Channel 10 and 7 on numerous occasions) they have decided to show the game on Austar Channel 518 this week. I don't know if it will happen for all the Saints/Sydney/Lions "clashes". I certainly hope so. I notice they are showing Thursday night's games on 518 as well, as they are delayed into Queensland until late on Thursady night by Channel 7.
I suggest you email the AFL
(there is a link here at the bottom of this page
http://afl.com.au/Fixture/BroadcastGuid ... fault.aspx).
I also emailed them direct (I got the address from Ben Hall I think) and they did reply to me.
Make as much noise as you can, and get others to do so as well.
Might not work this year, but you never know about next year.

Guys this is a friggin joke. We have gone back to the dark ages. I am prepared to pay what ever it costs just want to be able to see the Saints game live each week!

We should be complaining to the AFL. Perhaps this is something that the Western Saints should be taking up on behalf of all WA saints fans.

have been doing so since early last season when it first happend i have writen emails made phone calls ect ect basically we have 1200 WA members compaired to the 45K+ members the eagles have in WA plus the 40K+ dockers members the weight of numbers wins every time its all about the ratings No one cares about the non WA team fans even if we joined forces with the WA supporter clubs of carlton , essendon ,collingwood melb and geelong (the big six WA supporter groups) we wouldnt be close to having the numbers to make the networks over here listen , its a losing battle and i doubt very much the AFL care of our plight either

Instead of complaing to the moronic TV stations write a letter to the ACCC http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/54388 and make a formal complaint there. They're obligated to investigate it

hmm on what basis will the accc investigate. I don't thing the tv stations are doing anything dishonest or breaching the trades practices act.

I think it is the AFL that has sold us short.

You'd think they would at least show the game on their new HD channel.

I think I'd rather see the Saints play than watch NASCAR or the NFL.
