5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

St Kilda's ability to kick two supergoals — the second in the midst of a three-goal third-term burst, when Gram kicked a wobbling, bouncing goal from 60 metres — proved crucial, and for the first time since the nine-point goals were introduced, the bonus determined the result, with Adelaide winning by a point under the normal system.

Actually, we missed two points from hitting the post which went back into play. Therefore we would win by a point.

Thanks bc - I read it at a Cafe so they probably got the early edition. Mind you, the game was over pretty early (7:15 start our time) so I don't know when the early edition was produced?bigcarl wrote:would have missed their early edition. you often get one of those if you buy it at a 7/11 or petrol station. in my edition we are front page and back page.Mr Magic wrote:Maybe I'm blind?

Also noticed that they are advertising a 'coup' in their sprts section' - 'Hutchy the Tosser' is now writing a column for them. Defected from the Sunday Age?

I'm wondering whether Hutchy is going to do something similar at the Herald Sun. Rosanne Michie who does their "sports gossip" column has said in today's issue that she is leaving.

Poor Ashley Porter does not understand - the game is Australian RULES football.
The game is played by the RULES.
X was in the clear, he knew that under the NAB cup rules, if he kicked from outside 50 metres he could score 9 points. He tried but the ball dropped short and was rushed through for only one point.
Under 6 points for a super goal rules, X takes a bounce and kicks a 6 point goal.
That's 5 more points for the Saints.
Rules is rules Ashley.

the 'country' always get the early edition- the sun is one of the earliest printed- around 10pm - first edition hits the country servos and roadhouses by 12- ish - last nights had a great picture of Kosi on the back but just two stories insideMr Magic wrote:Maybe I'm blind?

the second edition has front and back page of whole team and three or four pages of stories.
the only advantage of being where I am is that the local paper is one of the later printed ( 2 am) and on Saturdays often has more than the Big papers.
surprisingly the Age had plenty in the edition that hit my front step this morning as it too can be limited after night games.

Not sure if she is leaving the paper altogether or just the column - writing is a bit ambiguous!!Mr Magic wrote:So does that mean 'Hutchy the Tosser' has boned Roseanne Michie?saintm wrote:Tony Jones has taken over his page on the back of the Age sports section.Mr Magic wrote: Also noticed that they are advertising a 'coup' in their sprts section' - 'Hutchy the Tosser' is now writing a column for them. Speaking of sloppy journalism
Todays Sunday Age
FRONT page
Paragraph 3
"It was the Saints second night premiership since their first and only historic VFL flag in 1966".
The moron that wrote this didn't even bother to put their name to it.
Perhaps they were too ashamed.
And then in the Sports section on page 7 they had an "interest" piece on the Premiership.
You would have thought they would have put someone senior on to it.
And you would have thought, given it is the most significant game in almost 6 months, they would have something serious to say.
Instead
They assigned Emma Quayle
(what fantastic credentials she has)
And she then waffled on about how StKilda is like a "pyramid of food"
Maybe I missed something, but it made no sense, just a meandering crockpot of sh1te !
Here's the link, but warning it is pretty nauseating ....

Doesn't the AFL have the most journo's of any other sports in oz? It seems they just hand them out to anyone these days.
The AFL own the media. It doesn't matter if the news is good, bad or ugly, as long as we're reading and talking AFL they're happy.

It would seem that most of the senior media people were still recovering from the 'premiere' of 'The Juddernaut' on Friday afternoon to actually be capable of attending the NAB Cup Grand-Final so we are left with the 'second-string' and/or unbiased locals for our reports.
Hopefully the 'euphoria' caused by the opening of 'The Juddernaut' will have subsided by the time the AFL season commences so that we, the non-Carlscum public, can get some rational reports about our code of football.
