The Cambpell Brown incident was just a late bump on a guy going for a mark (50m), Josh Kennedy could do nothing to stop his opponent from ducking his head and running into him (play on) and the Franklin wrestle was nothing.
Campbell didn't go the spoil at all...He just played the man. The AFL have been hot on this and should continue to be so...I also don't think his record will help him.

That is something that happens in pretty much every game of footy. It was a dumb thing to do (and there is a chance he'll be suspended for it), but there no was high contact, no elbows sticking out and all that came of it was Kruezer getting a bit winded. Shoudn't be suspended for that, but then again you never know with the tribunal.Life Long Saint wrote:Campbell didn't go the spoil at all...He just played the man. I don't recall stating anything indicating that the contact was high. It was late and he had no intent for the footy. Hence, it is reportable...And he should go.mad saint guy wrote:That is something that happens in pretty much every game of footy. I can't comment on these incidents because I didn't see the game however as of late Hawthorn have been an extremely dirty team, I am really beginning to dislike them!!

Brown 2 weeks and no chance or reduction due to poor record
they always come down hard early in the season.

BROWN GONE
Monday, February 25th, 2008 at 3:39 pmBY SHANE POTTER
Hawthorn defender Campbell Brown is set for some time on the sidelines after being offered a two week suspension from the AFL match review panel.
Brown was charge with a level two charging offence against Calrton’s Matthew Kreuzer in the fourth quarter of the round two NAB Cup clash at Telstra Dome on Saturday night. Due to his previous poor record an early guilty plea will not reduce Brown’s sanction.
In other charges laid Carlton’s Jarrod Waite was a bit luckier as he was offered a reprimand for striking Hawk Tim Clarke.

can't believe comments saying nothing in the brown hit
it was as cheap and cowardly as anything you could see on the field, yes he was only winded that is not the point, we don't want to see that in the game
if it was a saints player he had hit we would be screaming for his head.
lucky to get two, nothing tough or rugged about that bit of play
anyone who has played footy knows how easy it is too make that type of hit, but you don't because it is soft

Case in poinmt: Giansira-loser on Kosi a few years back. How many weeks did he get for that?terry smith rules wrote:can't believe comments saying nothing in the brown hit

Seriously, a front on bump that was hard and a little bit physical, but the kid got strait up and there seemed little malicious intent.
If this trend continues, our midfielders will have to change to Wing Attack.

Brown hit the guy from behind with no intent but to inflict harm.
The hit on Kosi was a shepherd that caused an acidental head clash. Comparable to Luke Ball - Matthew Whelan last season.
The only scrutiny that would come under is the head high contact. Ball and Kosi should have expected to be shepherded in those situations. It is not reasonable to expect Kruzer to have his back cannoned into by a player that is not intent on spoiling the football.

How many appearances would this be for Brown? Be getting close to 10 surely...?TimeToShineFellas wrote:Wouldn't have fancied his chances at the tribunal - IIRC last time he blatantly lied when he appeared (on the Judd eye-gouge charge.)savatage wrote:Brown is an undisciplined idiot. Should definitely go for his charge on Kruezer. No eyes for the ball.

ok so, because he got suspended in NAB, his suspension can be served in the NAB comp.
but cos bakes was suspended in the home-and-away season, he has to serve it from round 1 onwards.
yes? bit confused here lol.

If you read what you just wrote, you shouldn't be confused.*BaLLy iS BeST* wrote:ok so, because he got suspended in NAB, his suspension can be served in the NAB comp.

Suspension in NAB Cup = suspended games to be served in NAB Cup if the team keeps winning, the rest of the suspension to be served during H & A. Therefore if Hawthorn gets knocked off in Adelaide, then Brown will miss Round 1
Suspension in H&A = suspended games to be served in H & A Season (also carries to finals if suspension incurred at end of H & A season)

Another silly AFL inconsistency. Why should it be considered not as bad to belt someone in a NAB Cup game?

Little doubt that they hand out tough penalties, my point is that players of a team travelling well in the pre-season are effectively punished less (eg Brown) as they get to serve it in the pre-season and not the H&A, which is stupid.TimeToShineFellas wrote:I have done some research.Bevan Shorluey wrote:Another silly AFL inconsistency.
