we lost by a good 15 goals.
at quarter time our hopes were up as we were only down my 2 points (i think) but the dees kicked 6 goals to 0 in the 2nd quarter, and we ended that quarter with a few fights, i wasnt sure what that was about... maybe the dees were a little cranky and tired because they got to the ground 1 hour before bounce and did laps of the oval, shots on goal and stretches!

the 3rd quarter was just as bad, but i think we got 1 goal in the quarter. and ended off the game in style with a 15 or 16 goal defeat! :D
at one stage we had 19 men on the ground, and 7 of them in the back line, but they still mannaged to get 6 goals that quarter  our back line was ok, but their forwards were awesome. our FB was awesome, the ball hardly got past him! good work mate!

best on ground was SaintBot some guy wearing the hot cross bun and parko.

i am still shattered that there wernt drinks after the game :( i had to go get a slurpee instead :?

hopefully next time ne can get a game going with an interstate club... like 'thepowerfromport' have alot of Vic members!
gees dools...me in the best? i dont think i touched the ball for the first quarter and a bit and i turned it over pretty much with every possesion lol

our fullback was great (#26)
the spinner bros, especially the one who took on the melbourne ruckmen
hd was great
daino was fantastic to watch
beekay has a terrific kick on him
ilsy did great despite very, unfair, close attention

but best on ground for today was mightysainters
touched the ball every minute it seemed

also thank you to yipper. was a tough game for umpiring as we could see.

cheers for the game HD, demonland and co
hopefully next time it can be on a day that is under 30 8-)

many thanks to yipper for umpiring yet again...

apologies for the lack of an after-match drink...

it seems that without dan warna and/or BackFromUSA from your site, we can't solve the logistics problems...

we will look after big carl for you...

with the effort you guys put in yesterday, when we were lucky enough to get our "A" team onto the park, I am sure you will get big carl back sooner or later...

see you next time...

regards,

Have to back up most of what Spinner posted.

Mightysaints was our best by a mile and put it one of the best efforts I've seen in a forum match. To the very end he was sprinting and pushing himself to every contest.

Good effort from everyone on the park.

I really do struggle to believe that all the Melbourne boys were actually Demon fans or even heard of their forum. As someone pointed out, they had the entire spine of a team down the road.

Not sour grapes! It's forum footy and the Melbourne guys were good blokes all up! But I think some rules might have to be established sometime soon or it won't be forum verses forum, it will be one guy off a forum and 21 of his mates.

And Dooley that was really poor form what you posted. In so many ways.
You should go sign up over at Tigerland with that attitude.

Can one of you more "Sporting Bet" types please frame a market on when we are likely to hear from that "Toy Mini Bus" known sometimes as barks4eva. 8-)

This is the poor excuse for a coach who led Saintsational to a demoralising loss against the demons and then doesn't have the intestinile fortitude to come on here and explain himself. My bet is that he will stay away until at least Friday in the hope that we will all forget his pathetic performance

I wonder if Grant Thomas is available for the next game    !!

I think there was probably two of our team that weren't forum members, and from speaking to your guys, there was at least that on your team as well - as has been the case in the past.

Sorry for last post..

Sunday's game was always going to be difficult, as well as the oppressive heat we had a couple of regulars out and we played an opponent hell bent on revenge from October.

Well done to the Dees, they were excellent on the day, had some real quality players in particular the bloke with the headband and the red clash jumper in the midfield.

For us, mightysainters was our best player, wasn't sharing the midfield with his mate illsy this week and had to fly solo and worked hard the whole way through.

Joe Spinner in the ruck, wearing the famous yellow peril was excellent. took some good marks and kept running hard.

Daino worked hard despite illness which was a great effort.

and Voncat at full back did a terrific job for the saints in the absence of the Craw!.
He provided a contest every single time and I don't think he was beaten one out all afternoon. Well done mate.

illsy did well also despite having 3 demons hanging off his jumper and holding hands with him all afternoon.

So the Big Carl departs Moorabbin and returns 'temporarily' to demonland.
They deserve it so well done guys, but see you again soon.

Forget to mention yipper also, this game was one of the more difficult to umpire for a number of reasons so well done on keeping the fights down and protecting the ball carrier.

P.S...funniest comment of the day belonged to a demons player in the last term.
After two appalling throw ins, (a metre high and straight onto the chest of a running dees onballer) were called back by yipper, a Dees player yells out, "It's not the AFL, why take it so serious?",

I found that amusing given the dees did a pre match warm up, with a lap and some sprints as well as kicking drills, then used tactics

CLASSIC!

One thing's for sure noone could accuse the melbourne team of taking things too lightly

Pre-match address  running on as a group and doing a lap of the oval, rolled gold comedy   and then to top it off training drills before the match starts    all while we, or was that I, were/was sitting around on our backsides discussing with each other/ or was that me talking to myself, what a tool/pissant Grant Thomas is

"It's not the AFL, why take it so serious" now that 's gold  LOL

We were just down on quality players available, while they had an abundance of riches.

Daniel (mightysainters) deserves special mention, he was simply outstanding, a true herculean performance in the mid field and often up against it seemingly taking on three opponents by himself and did so with tenacity, determination and skill and never gave up all day, absolutely brilliant.

Daino was also like a ferocious terrier in the middle when he was in there.

Joey was also superb and gave his all, for the entire game.

Bot was also good as were others, but in the end weight of quality numbers was always against us.

What we needed was the same team we had against collingwood and then things would have been more competitive on the scoreboard.

First quarter was good with some great goals kicked, 4 of our 6 for the day, with Spinner kicking a great snap that spun all 35 metres through it's trajectory, Illzy kicking an almost 50 metre punt and Beekay slotting a couple of nice ones.

The defence were up against it and full credit to the likes of TTSF who always puts his hand up for his traditional back pocket role, certainly saw more action this time around and was under the pump, particularly so with Craw missing.

Yipper did a great job with the umpiring and was totally in the right to send off the guy who delivered an off the ball elbow  I mean fair dinkum, was almost going to go over to the dees camp and have a quiet word about that one, until I realised that it had already been officially dealt with

Cheers to all who attended on the day, congrats to the dees

I'm just wondering if there's any chance the dee's could take things a bit more seriously next time

It wasn't an "off the ball" hit Barks - it was in the play. He took possession, and then incorrectly "fended off" the incoming tackler!! He is a good player that fella - I hope he plays to his full potential in whatever league he is with.

Having done this umpiring thingy for awhile now - I can understand why umpires are such an introverted, peculiar lot of ppl with no friends!! 8-)

Ok, maybe we are talking about two seperate incident's and I didn't actually even see the one you're referring to

The one I 'm referring to was Daniel/mightysainters running in an attempt to tackle/put pressure on a dees player with the ball who was about to dispose of it

Daniel was never going to get to the player before he kicked it as he was about 5 metres away, when a dees player charged him off the ball and delivered a high elbow,

daniel was not the ball carrier and had no reason to expect a hit like this, particularly in a social forum game

the player with possession disposed of the ball at the same time daniel copped a hit, five metres away off the ball

It would seem we're talking about two different incidents

I think yipper is refering to the hit on Brett during the first quarter which saw the demons player sent off.

Sounds like great fun.

I'll put my hand up for a gig next time around seems as I'll be back in Melb . What's the standard like...do you have to be good or is it for anyone? I haven't played for 7 years and the darwin heat doesn't exactly promote excercise ....

I'm kind of your perfect cross as a player between a Tony Lockett and Aussie Jones, just not quite as good

P.S- I'm open to sledging from forumites or players that happen to read this. Feel free to use words such as soft, weak,no heart, deplorable, etc
